fifee
I do not accept. You are at the top - 22HCP but no 5 card suit, no good middlin' cards, ♣ AQ is tight which is also a negative, no runnable suits either. sigh.

mr1303
LHO overcalled 2S, and partner has shown up with a stop. Is LHO Mike Bell? (BTW I pass 4NT, since my hand hasn't improved as the auction's gone on)
Fluffy
Its hard to know if ♠Q is missplaced or not, but if it is we would better pass since it will turn to be a good wasted value. I am tempted to bid 5NT requantitative , but it can lead to a stupid score. If my LHO is older than 35 I think I am gonna pass. Otherwise bid 6. You think that people older than 35 or more likely to psych or bid on a bad suit here? I would certainly bid 2S without any top spades at this vulnerability (and I'm younger than 35) so I expect my opponents to do the same. I still think that it is very close. Thats why he bids 6 if it's someone who's younger than 35 that bid 2S. His statement leads me to believe he thinks people younger than 35 are more likely to have psyched. As for this misplaced SQ...pard bid 2N. He likely has the spade king. He would have to have JTxx to not have the spade king which seems very unlikely. More likely they've just psyched. Ah yes, misread/misthought. Logic is not my strongest point as you can see.
Echognome
Thanks all for the replies. This was a UI case. South bid 4NT after quite a hesitation. I can never understand hesitating and then issuing an invite to a fairly narrow point range hand. I was the cheeky 2♠ bidder. I had a 5-5 one count white versus red. The 2NT bidder had: ♠ Kx♥ Qxx♦ Qx♣ KJ98x I have no idea why he didn't just bid 6NT himself, but not much I could do about it. Clubs were 5-1 and 4NT made plus one. We felt that North should accept the invite if not for the hesitation, but the majority thinks otherwise. I can accept that.
MickyB
Was 2N limited? If it is possible for the 2N bidder to have be boarderline between a 4N rebid and a 6N rebid then there is nothing suggested by the UI. If that is not possible then 6N is probably still an LA. Finch
I would also pass 4NT. LHo doesn't have to have psyched: he coud have J10xxx(x) or so, and then my 4th spade won't do us much good (as indeed you have said). By the way, I will almost never adjust for UI when a player thinks a long time then invites. There's no way to tell whether he is thinking abouti) not inviting (passing/just bidding game)ii) bidding it himself (game/slam as appropriate)iii) doing something else (in this case, bidding a suit) so the UI usually does not suggest one action over another. Similarly, there will very rarely be an adjustment if someone thinks for a long time then makes a forcing pass.
Kalvan14
Can you accept the invite by bidding 5S looking for S help? I like the 5♠ bid; not only conveys the right message (good hand, strength in ♠, no 5-card suit), but still leaves the door open to plat slam in a minor (5♠-6♣-6♦). Justin, for me your 5♦ looks like a 5 bagger

Winstonm
Really a close hand. Against a known long suit, a stop such as KJxx, KQxx or even Kxxx is problably a better holding as that leaves more of your outside HCP as working. In this hand, the Q of spades is of nebulus value but worth some because of the possession of the AQ9 for endplay puposes. However, the same 22 with Kxxx of spades would have a much better play I would think. I would bid 5D on the way because of the spade 9. Same thing occurs with a borderline game invitational hand. If opps have shown a long spade suit, it is better to hold QJ10x, xx, A10x, KJxx than to holdAKxx, xx Jxx, QJxx. Same double stop but the first hand is much more likely to produce game.
