What does the jump mean?

This won't be a problem for regular PDs. Just curious about how would this jump to be interpreted for expert players IN GENERAL (if there is a GENERAL)?

Undiscussed no idea. I would probably look at my hand to decide what pard meant it as :rolleyes: If I was playing with a French player I would assume fit :blink:

I think this hand is too strong for a 3-level FJS: using R-S I'd either bid 2NT (inv+ 4 card raise, even when 2NT is nonjump) or FJS at the 4 level.

 

I would bid a 3-level FJS holding, say, JTxx,KQTxx,xx,xx, basically a mixed raise with concentrated values: with a 10 count or equivalent (Gerben's 9 count is indeed a worth 10 count), IMO better avoid a 3-level FJS but use a stronger bid.

Mauro, if you allow me one brief comment, if you judge that hand too strong for a 3-level fit-bid, then bid a 4-level fit-bid. To bid 2NT on that hand is a far greater distortion than any fit-bid available.

A couple of weeks ago I played for the first time with pclayton. I believe our agreements were 2/1 GF, udca, support jump shifts in competition. I don't think that we had any other agreements, if we did I forgot them.

 

Undiscussed I would never bid this and I would have no idea what 3H is when partner bids it. I prefer to discuss this.

Undiscussed I always assume Mike Lawrence style bidding here in USA.

That means no fit jumps and 3h is long and weak.
