uday
For the simple reason that there are currently some hard-coded capacity limits that can't be fixed until the next client is deployed, and because Estoril is pushing these limits, I have implemented some irritating new restrictions When a T starts, it is as if one new user logged in for every table in the tourney. The system will now try to get these users from the range 1-8500 If not enough free slots are available, the tourney will be automatically canceled during startup and the Host, if online, will see a message like 'Fatal error, too many teams' or something. This means that big tourneys during prime vugraph time may not be able to start. This affects pay Ts as well as free Ts, tho I have been slightly more generous with the pay T quota. I guess this means that I'm favouring allowing new users to login (and watch vugraph) over allowing old users to play tourneys. I have a new version from FG; I'm testing it. I might force it on all users over the next few days. I might not. If I do, the limits will be raised and this issue will go away for a while. An alternative to this is that I limit all free tourneys to (say) 20 tables, increasing the chance that any one T won't hog up too many slots An alternative to this is that TDs avoid primetime when scheduling tourneys (ie, noon to 4 EST)
Guest Jlall
An alternative to this is that TDs avoid primetime when scheduling tourneys (ie, noon to 4 EST) seems like the smart thing to do.
Gerardo
20 tables limit when Vugraph is on is now in place.
candybar
I understand the problem and the solution, even if it is annoying for the moment, but when one Host sets up and runs 2 different 20 table tournaments simultaneously and has a third one that will start before his second one finishes, that kind of defeats the purpose of this, doesn't it? uday
Yep; unless the TD has received explicit perms from Gerardo/Uday to do this, it is probably unwise to play games like this. We're very quick to add TD perms to people who ask. We're very quick to remove them from people who misuse the capability.
