Al_U_Card
Playing 15-17 NT, with an "expert" pick-up partner but no previous discussion are there any continuations after 1NT-2C-2D-3C by the opener?

inquiry
No. Funny. I always thought if undiscussed minor rebids by responder after stayman were forcing.
Al_U_Card
Strange because it seems to me that non-forcing stayman allows you hold invitational or better hands in the majors or "to play" hands in the minors.......but my view may be claustrophobic.. Guest Jlall
2C then 3m would be forcing undiscussed (where I come from).
Al_U_Card
2C then 3m would be forcing undiscussed (where I come from). Would that require that you play 4 suit transfers or not?

Finch
With an English pick-up partner & no discussion about 4-suit transfers I would pass 3m. With an English partner playing 4-suit transfers I would assume partner had a 4CM, a 6-card minor & (light) invitational values, and would often but not always pass. With an American pick-up partner & no discussion I would assume 3m is natural & forcing.
Al_U_Card
The purpose being to play in 3NT or 4C but never to get away from 2D with 4-2-1-6 and less than 8 hcp?
mike777
in usa assume 100% game force. With an expert p/u partner and typical no discussion, 1nt=2s can have a lot of meanings but one thing for sure it does not mean spades :). I always plan to bid 2nt over 2s and pass any minor suit rebid by partner :).
han
I misread the question. I thought the question was whether there is a consensus about the meaning of 3C and continuations, and I thought there was not. I see that there is an agreement among English playing with English and Americans playing with Americans, this is new to me. To quote Sherlock Holmes: now that I know this irrelevant piece of information, I will try to forget it as soon as possible.
Al_U_Card
I had a 3244 16 count with Qxxx in C. Pard had a 15 count that I might have expected him to ask quantitatively (especially undiscussed)....
