Echognome
[hv=d=e&v=b&s=satxhk9xxdakqcajx]133|100|Scoring: IMP(1♥) - X - (P) - 2♦(P) - 2NT - (P) - 3♦(P) - ?[/hv] You pick up this collection of tickets and are all ready to open 2NT when RHO surprises you by bidding 1♥. NP you think, you double and partner shows diamonds. That fits in well with your diamond honours. So you bid your routine 2NT showing a good 18-21 bal. Partner then bids 3♦. Do we take a shot at game? Can partner have an entry with the an opener on our right?
Guest Jlall
pass, I showed my hand, diamonds are blocked, partner did not invite.
Trpltrbl
Pd knows I have a big hand, his 3♦ sounds like a very weak bid and I believe denies any entree with interest in NT. So I will pass, with pain in my ♥. GBB
Al_U_Card
Unless pard is deaf AND blind, he believes that 3D is the place to play........you have no more to say. (I expect him to hold a 2-3-5-3 or a 3-2-5-3 with less than 3 hcp.)
Finch
I also pass. But I don't expect only five diamonds, I expect 6 of them.We can be slightly off-shape for this auction, and are quite likely to have a doubleton diamond and could possibly have a singleton. Yikes! I wouldn't expect that (or the Spanish Inquisition, apparently).

PMetsch
I like my hand very much, so I bid 3♥. After all 3NT has a play if partner has 5♦ + ♠Q + ♣Q or it may be 5♦ if he has 6♦ + ♠J + ♣Q. I only pomissed a good 18 and partner won't bid 3NT with 2 queens. I think the hand is more worth than a 2NT rebid. If partner has nothing than 4♦ wil be down, but I don't think they will double and 3♦ may also be down. cherdano
I like my hand very much, so I bid 3♥. After all 3NT has a play if partner has 5♦ + ♠Q + ♣Q or it may be 5♦ if he has 6♦ + ♠J + ♣Q. I don't think so, with opener sitting behind dummy, a black queen is unlikely to be an entry. You need some king or a slow entry and a heart double stop for 3NT to make I believe. I would definitely pass, but I would also think that 2NT is only bid with exceptionally good 18, more like 19-21. With Q and QJ somewhere, partner would bid on. With a black king and xxxxx in diamonds, we miss 3NT, but so be it. Arend
Gerben42
Pass. Partner's 3♦ is a warning bid, could be something like xx xx xxxxxx xxx.
luke warm
the way i play, the 2nt bid promised 19+... partner knows that, so i'd have to pass or bid 5d... i pass
PMetsch
I don't think so, with opener sitting behind dummy, a black queen is unlikely to be an entry. You need some king or a slow entry and a heart double stop for 3NT to make I believe. The defenders also have communication problems if opener holds ♥AQJ + ♠K + ♣K. After a heart lead, the opener is thrown in. Lets say LHO leads a ♥ to our king, then we can unblock ♦ and play ♥9. After cashing the hearts he must lead a black suit and we will be in the dummy. Fluffy
I don't play 2NT rebid as 18-21 for this :), partner can easylly ahve a black king. Anyway I am gonna pass, discipline is discipline.
Echognome
I did indeed pass, but I didn't like it. Partner could have had a slow entry as some people suggested. But, given the opening bid on your right I agree with Fluffy (and many others) that it is undisciplined to bid again here. Partner made 10 tricks in diamonds and that was that. Ended up gaining a few imps.
