More to the point, it is love all...

I think it is often right to compete with shortness as a passed hand, partner won't go overboard and it takes some of the pressure off him in direct seat.

I'm kinda torn on this one. You are 4-6 and can correct clubs to diamonds. On the other hand, that king of spades is icky, and 3rd seat NV preempt could be on six cards or a slightly stronger hand. If I was in first seat and second seat had preempted the case for doubling would be much stronger IMO.

I think I'm doubling despite the spade king. Doubling can lose in a big way, but there are also several different ways that it can win, and this is matchpoints so a zero is just a zero.

I must admit, if this hand came up in a game, i would never imagine that it would end up as a problem ;) But maybe that is because I am too much an imp player: maybe the secret to matchpoints is to think of bidding here :D

Count me in for a pass

Bridge is a bidder's game, but as they say, "Over a preempt, if they fixed you, stay fixed".

Even at MP, I won't risk a double or bidding diamonds.

If pard was trapping, it happens, next board please :-)

answering this before looking at any other posts/ responses.

If I'm feeling lucky, and had a supportive partner, I might just risk (at least think about) a 3NT balance playing P for a weak NT. [Don't know if I'd really have the guts (or stupidity) to do this at the table. Probably not. would likely back down.]

Am I insane or what?

lol. Don't ask me what I would do if rho puts the red card on the table. Oh, well. It's just one board.

DHL

p.s.: I have now read other posts. sorry, just have a feeling (instinct) about this hand. I never claimed to be sane nor a good bridge player. But I am a nice person. lolololol
