Guest Jlall
*shrug* I let it go...he could have 5 spades or he could have 9. Who knows, glp.
han
I think that the problem is missing one pass. Isn't partner the 3H opener? In that case I would bid 5D.
Guest Jlall
I interpreted it as RHO opening 3H, LHO bidding 4H, partner bidding 4S, passed back to us. Oh you're right since "I would not have bid 4H" is an option. If there is a pass missing, I would bid 5D now too. Risks pushing them into slam, but will probably get us our best lead and maybe they'll sell out.

han
Wake up guys, the title is "Replying to bidding after PARTNER's preempt". :)
Al_U_Card
5D to get the right lead if they take the push.......(but I might have bid 3S to start ;))
Free
Writing auctions in several lines of exactly 4 bids would help A LOT! I suppose there's one 'pass' short, but I already voted as if I was the partner of the 4♠ bidder... About the correct bidding: I'll bid 5♦. Trpltrbl
I am bidding 5♦, but I disagree with my 4♥ bid.maybe in a pick-up game, but with regular pd's our first and second seat preempts tend to be decent.Give pd something like AKxxxxx and stiff ♣ and we have nice slam, but maybe I am just dreaming. GBB
000002
if my partner can be clear-headed and sober, i like 4nt (then back 5♦)to show a good hand with solid ♦. good morning or evening :))
P_Marlowe
Partner did not preemp, but the voidin his suit is a downgrading factor, i.e.pass. Wish him the best and maybe you haveshamrock (??) to spare. With kind regardsMarlowe
Trpltrbl
Hmm, I see that not so many people pay attention to the first question asked. How to respond to pd's preempt. He opens 3♥ in first seat, followed by pass of RHO and you bid 4♥, LHO bids 4♠ and pd passes and so does your RHO. Now it is your turn to bid, or pass or do whatever you like. And there are no passes missing. GBB :)
MickyB
There has (not unreasonably) been a pass added to the question. I'm a 5♦ bidder.
Fluffy
5♥, to me, don't wanna give them any clues for the 5 level.
