X over 1H would certainly be my choice. There was not much wrong with your auction at all, I think. The cards fir perfectly and  the contract is rightsided .

Nth might have splintered with 4C but even then I doubt if you will bid 6 with both opps bidding.

Well, I don't overcall 1H on J-high fifth with a better alternative. Can you michaels the hand? Well, no. Since you have the lower two unbid suits. Perhaps you meant can unusual 2NT be used?  The answer is yes, and I probably would overcall 2NT. But if I was going to overcall at the one level, I would overcall 1-DIAMOND. Perhpas this is resulting the hand, but after a 1-DIAMOND overcall, the road to slam is much easier than after a HEART overcall, although neither is that easy. Surely East still doubles a 1DIAMOND overcall, but now South is thinking slam as soon as hears 1D (although you have wrong-handed the slam, with the SQ with RHO, it still makes). I might suggest,

West  North  East  South

1C          1D        DBL    3H   (splinter)

 X           P         P          XX   (First round control)

 P          4C         P          4H

 P          5C         P           ?  <<----

South has to be worried about two spade losers (the wrong sided issue again), but this at least approaches finding the slam. He knows the S-ACE is missing, and clearly behind the KING. Aslo, save to assume that north lacks singleton SPADE as well. So slam requires north to hold Spade Queen or Spade Jx(x) and the Spade Queen on-sides.  I think I would stop in five.

Alternatively, I might suggest on the given auction

West  North  East  South

1C         1H     DBL   2D

2S         4C                P         4S

 P         5C                P         6D

If the leap to Five clubs can be taken as good Diamond fit and club shortness. After a 2NT overcall, the slam might be reached as well.

I certainly do NOT wish to be in 6 with k10x of spades positioned where it is.

I think 5D is the proper spot for this contract on this bidding and that a 6 bid is a "prayer " (praying that the spade honors are split favorably).

If the field is in 6 on this auction then the field is wrong... 5D is quite enough.
