QuiteACard
Hi all: I propose that BBO place Google ads (and/or ads from other vendors) on the myhands search and output pages as a means to generate revenue for BBO. I'd be in favor of requiring myhands users to provide general demographic info about themselves so that the ad engines can provide ads targeted to each user. I use myhands to review tournament results. I find it an extremely useful tool. I'd like to see the database history extended and the search and display capabilities expanded to make it even more useful. I understand that BBO keeps a limited hand and tournament history due to the BBO's limited computing capacity. I offer this suggestion with the hope that by generating revenue from these ads that BBO can self-fund the myhands facility (and BBO in general) and provide more useful services to BBOland. I trust Fred, Uday, and the other BBO staff members will conceive a tasteful design for such ads. QuiteACard
Walddk
Well, at least the Google executives should be able to afford it. I just read the Forbes article on the 400 richest Americans. Larry Page and Sergey Brin are second from .... guess who. $51 billion (Gates), it makes me dizzy. I guess it would be waste of his precious time if he were to bend over after having spotted two $100 bills in the streets of Seattle. Yes, I know his residence is in Medina, WA, but he may go to Seattle occasionally, and there must surely be a better chance to find those bills there. luke warm
yeah, since at 6% simple interest he makes around 1600 bucks a second or some ridiculous amount
uday
Thanks for the suggestions, but I won't be sticking ads into the utility screens anytime soon. I limit the tourney display to -- what -- several days ? -- to avoid cluttering up the screen. We keep hand records around for 1-4 months, depending. I just don't see a strong case for keeping the older hands or the older tourneys lying around for too much longer than this . Make a case, and we'll consider extending this period we send a monthly feed of all our hands to a commercial product named bridgebrowser. If you have a need for very older hand you can get a copy from sfbp on bbo, I can't remember what his website is called.
