Gerben42
Luis had something about trumps splitting 3-1 if we have a singleton somewhere otherwise 2-2 or so, dunno what it was. Colombian mirror theory. All nonsense but it won him a title IIRC.
TheoKole
Trumps always seem to break evenly when they have little ones, and disasterously when they have high cards... Theo
Gerben42
Finesses that you don't need to make the contract will work, those that are needed won't.
guggie
If you play in the 4-3 fit, trumps will break 5-
Walddk
David Burn's Law of 8:Take the number of aces the opponents have from 8, and do NOT play at that level! Roland
helene_t
From AKQ, play the queen first. Because if you later forget if the queen is still out, you can always take the finese.
Walddk
David Burn's Law of Total Trumps:As declarer, it is usually best that your side has more trumps than the opponents. Roland

Chamaco
Holding a 2-way tenace combination, finesse through the opponent you dislike most. (Klinger/Kambites, who add "We thought this was a cool suggestion, until someone of our club came asking 'I don't get why everybody keeps on finessing through me all the times'... ")

tysen2k
When the opponents have a singleton king, play the ace.
mycroft
From a Director-centric position: 1) The name of the convention is both necessary and sufficient explanation. 2) If partner transfers and then rebids the transfer suit, pass. 3) Make sure to show partner where she went wrong. It makes her a better player, and she gains confidence because she knows her partner is an expert. 4) No need to call the Director; this is a friendly game. Michael. mycroft
The only way to get better at playing impossible contracts is experience. So, learn to bid badly. Corrolary: There's a convention to solve every problem. Therefore, adding conventions will make your system better. Michael.
Guest Jlall
Corrolary: There's a convention to solve every problem. Therefore, adding conventions will make your system better. Every convention has it's price. A convention may solve a problem but it will create new ones.
