Awkward hand at MPs

Playing in a sectional pairs event (one session, if that is a consideration), you hold the following South hand:

[hv=d=n&v=b&s=sqxhaqd976xxxckxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv]

You hear the auction: P-(1)-P (by you)-(1). Now pard doubles (for takeout) and RHO redoubles (not alerted). What is your call with this South hand?

Auction recap: P-(1)-P-(1)-X-(XX)-???

1NT not 2nt.

I note partner is a passed hand and has chosen to make a (takeout) x and not bid 1nt(takeout).

Partner would open many shapely 10 hcp club and heart hands even vul in first seat so.....I think she has more scattered hcp than concentrated in clubs and hearts.

2C. I could learnedly pass, but in reality that makes me more likely to get smacked in something. We should have at least as many clubs as hearts so I will bid a confident 2C and hope not to get Xed.

I'm going to make a really sick call here. Earmuffs!

Pard is a passed hand right? And pard didn't make a sandwich 1N call.

Therefore, I guarantee my house that he has a max of 3 S's. Opps have 8 and probably 9 and we aint buying this hand in a club partscore.

Spades are played by my lefty. What lead do you want? Yup.

2H

(Hey I did say earmuffs) :P

2: Yes, I know that the opps will compete in and that no jury in the world would convict me for shooting partner if he competed to 3. But while I would like a lead, a may work out just fine, and I do not want to hear a double by LHO with 4 , left in by RHO with 3: something about Burns Law of Total Trump.

Boring: but I rarely try to win the board in the bidding in these kind of situations... try to do it in the play, over which you have far more control. However, 2 may be a decent 1 session mp shot: a bad bid that will usually make no difference, but will may be fatal to one side or the other.

My initial gut reaction was 2, too. But then, the auction will certainly proceed: 2 on my left, Pass, (Pass). Now what do I do?

I would pass happily. We have no guarantee of any kind of fit and I am glad I didn't get Xed. I am not so confident that it will go 2S p p p though.
