pigpenz
www.radioparadise.com http://magnatune.com/ Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Neil Young...., or something classical. Wait, these guys are all so old that their music probably qualifies as classics?? LOL - Dark Side is on as I type this :) Anything from the 80's, especially the Clash and Squeeze. Anytime I've had Coldplay on in the car before a tourney I do well. Turning into a superstition for me. Like just about anything but Blues. have you listened to darkside in 5.1 on sacd, its probably the best!Derek and the dominoes and very good too, and reviews of Beck are also good, not all SACD in 5.1 are that good but some are really good Neil doesnt matter whether strereo or not just crank it up, loud :P Hard to believe I still have hearing after all these years
Al_U_Card
Another vote for Rock/Alternative/Punk here :-) While playing I think "Sugar we are going down" will become a classic here at home :-) Or are your doubles a "loaded gun complex, pass it or pull it"...lol

awm
Well I used to listen to techno/house/trance music (using the "radio" feature on iTunes). Personally I find that lyrics tend to distract me and so I prefer music without lyrics when trying to focus on bridge. I certainly enjoy most of the rock/alternative bands people have named but wouldn't tend to listen to them when I need to concentrate on something else. Of course, these days it seems my girlfriend always wants the TV on (amazing how many times per day Simpsons seems to be on) and I tend to let her have her way and then screen all the distractions out when I focus on bridge. This has lead to some funny conversations when she asks me about something on the TV program and I have no idea what she's talking about because I was declaring a hand.
Guest Jlall
It's funny, some have a hard time playing with music, I have a hard time playing without it (online). My typical computer when I'm playing BBO is: on average 3 AIM conversationsmusic (always)bridge1 table of NL texas hold em. BBO forums (only used when I'm dummy). Now that I have an ipod, I may use it when I play live (if its allowed) as well.

Fluffy
yeah, very similar to what I do, I tried once to play blood bowl online at the same moment with little success, chess was even worse for obvious reasons, but settlers of catan was fun and playable. Doesn't bother me except if they aren't paying attention enough/can't hear questions. It would also annoy me if they were blasting the music so that I could hear it, but as none of this has happened, it has yet to bother me. What REALLY annoys me is this LA-area pair that does crosswords during bidding/play. This means that they are absolutely unable to keep a consistant tempo, which is highly annoying in a pair as good as they are supposed to be. McBruce
Now that I have an ipod, I may use it when I play live (if its allowed) as well. I can't wait for the first Committee: "When East led to trick seven, an iPod Pico was found attached to the led card. An examination of the card revealed the the device was playing a track called _Defense and Signals_. When the device's volume was turned to maximum by the Director, East went into convulsions the likes of which nobody has seen since the original Star Trek..." :)

Wait, these guys are all so old that their music probably qualifies as classics?? Pink Floyd's "Pulse" is one of my favorite CDs for the longbridge sessions. A few time ago I terribly missplayed 3NT while I listened these lyrics from "Brain Damage"... "There's someone in my head but it's not me"...... THAT WAS TRUE!!!! ;) Robert
