messages to unavailable recipients

I hate it when you click on a name, type a private message and press enter only to see the message sent to lobby or kibitzers because the intended recipient is unable to receive messages. :)

It would be far more user friendly and less embarrassing if you received a discrete little popup saying unable to send message at this time - didn’t it work like this in previous versions or was there a sound associated when you tried to click on the name?

Partly operator error here, sometimes a message box to the person pops up, when you try to send this message you will get an error.

Other times when you click on a person you don’t get the message box but if you start typing a message box (to lobby or kibitzer) appears automatically and you may not notice until the message has been sent.

See that:

My recepient is playing in a tourney and I can't send him any message.

I can send him a mail, but he will get it only when will be logged in into BBO.

Couldn't system send this mail, when he finish his tourney and chatting is enabled?

I don't think it should be doing this. In theory, if recepient can't receive msgs, client stops you from sending, or server blocks it and lets you know.

If you can tell us how to reproduce this, I will deal w/it or ask FG to do the same

If a table in MBC is not open to chat from kibitzers,

the message to table goes to ->kibitzers

Same in tourneys,I've seen people send greet messages

to a player at a table in tourneys and it is indeed

sent to kibitzers instead?

Before too long we will be overhaulling the chat system.

In the mean time, the easiest way to make sure you chat goes to why you want it to go to is to look at the title bar in the chat window.

Keep in mind that whenever you initiate a chat message by typing (as opposed to by clicking) the resulting message will be public in nature.
