You hold the following hand at matchpoints:

[hv=d=s&v=n&s=sat74hq82dqj96ck2]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv]

You open 1 and partner bids 1. What is your plan?

Feel free to assume whatever methods you usually play, provided that 1 is a reasonable opening on this hand and 1 response would be natural and forcing.

With regard to what partner's expected to do if/when you rebid 1NT, I'm sure most of us would correct to 2 with KJT97 of hearts and few other cards, and that almost no one would correct with 76543 of hearts and outside values. The question is what you expect from partner on a "typical" minimum response holding exactly five hearts.

Support with support. I follow Richard's lead and raise to 2 without a care in the world, other than the nagging feeling something must be wrong if I am agreeing with Richard. :D

I expect him to pass 2 any minimum hand with (four or) five hearts.

1S then pass 1N. I have not bought into raising hearts with 3 on NT oriented hands, especially those that contain 4 spades. I like to raise on 3, but not as much as Adam. This hand could play better than hearts in both spades and NT. Obviously I have to pass a 1N bid by pard as 2H would show extras now.

For me this obviously depends on my partner and our agreements. If I ever get to play with a partner who doesn't have a strong opinion on this subject I will suggest to bid 1S with this and pass the 1NT response. I would like to raise with 3-card support only when I have a singleton or a weak doubleton.

Oh you aren't fully on the dark side of the force, we might still save you :D
