sceptic
Hi, I loaded my FD file, I have 1nt opener, 2club (stayman), 2Diamond (deny 4 card major, 2heart (weak scramble majors) these are the only 4 bids I have on this file old version 1.1.0 I bid 1nt (15-17 balanced. I got correct description) partner bid 2club (I got stayman, correct description), opener now bids 2diamonds (I got deny 4 card major, correct desription) sitting 4 seats at teaching table version 1.1.1 same bidding no problem this works also, my oddity is version 1.1.1 I bid 1nt (15-17 balanced. I got correct description) partner now bids 2diamond (NOT 2club) and I got deny 4 card major, I expected it to be blank as I had (or thought I had not logged that bid?? I assumed that if I make a file I log openers bids and responders bids (2diamond should be an openers response to responders bid, so I assumed it would be blank as I had not defined 2 diamond as response to 1nt opener yet hope that makes sense
paulg
Are you using the .bss file that you think that you are as I do not see this behaviour with your file? The files used by 4.4.5 are located in the convcards folder. Paul - now an "expert" having solved a single problem in this area :) !!! inquiry
I am having a similar problem with 1.1.1 on competitive bidding. I have several different response schedules over their 1♣ opening bids (depening upon the nature of their 1♣ bid). For some reason, I can only see the meaning of my overcalls displayed when I go out of the editor mode... but this only happens if I create a new one club bid (changing vul or the like)... and the ability to see the bids returns if I reload the FD program. Dwingo
I made a , say Acol file by copying and pasting on a Notepad ( from Acol structure found in Forums) and then copied this file in Convcards folder/Dwingo convcards and then renamed is as ns.bss I then sat NS and clicked load NS convention card. Nothing happened. I couldn't see any explanation when our side bid. Did I do anything wrong? Version 4.4.5 Godwin
sceptic
I am curious here, I have a 4 bid stayman sequence 1nt, 2C, 2D and 2H (as described above).in FD file If I want to add 4 way transfer sequence, smollen and texas transfers as 1 FD file, how do you intigrate it with the stayman sequences? I am not sure how to get two convention sequences to run in unison with each other? example of what I mean would be example 1 1nt (openers bid)2C (stayman)2H (4 hearts) example 2 1nt (openers bid)2D (transfer to hearts)2H(accept transfer) how do I get the 2H bid to reflect two different meanings I need some HELP, trying again at a teaching table, I bid 1nt it shows my correct expalnation then after pass responder bids, 2clubs, 2 diamonds or 2 hearts (these are the four bids I have in my FD file it shows all the explanations I have typed in so now I am at a loss as to how to proceed to make a cc, am I doing something drastically wrong? (I know fred is not here, so any help or ideas would be appreciated)

fred
If you see strange things happen either when running FD as on its own or when using FD through BBO, the best thing to do is send me an e-mail containing a description of the problem with the relevant .bss file(s) included as attachment(s). I won't get a chance to look at any of these e-mails (or Forums posts) until Monday at the earliest, but it is almost always very easy for me to find and fix problems if I am able to replicate them. Having the .bss files that cause problems is very helpful as far as that is concerned. fred
As far as I can tell, the problems that Sceptic reported happen only after an undo at a teaching table. It will be fixed in the next version. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
