Butler IMPs, North South have the above uncontested auction - and yes, it was North that opened! North showed 7-10 points, 4-5♣, 4♥ and 3-4♠, South made two forcing enquiries then signed off in 3NT. Partner leads the ♦3, and declarer remonstrates with dummy for overbidding! What's your plan?

Planning on returning Pard's opening lead if that is allowed on BBO?

Please note with Attitude leads the 3D does not have to show 4th best, could be fifth or sixth but it does have to say I like D.

btw perhaps opener only has 18 hcp, thinking p has 7 hcp not 5, that gives our pard 4 hcp?

Leading the 3 of D from Jxxx would seem to be almost the last possible lead to make with any reasonable pard hand but I guess it is possible in theory.

 

BTW in F2F does not playing these type of HUM methods often lead to Ethical or ZT problems at the table? Here again the opp cannot even keep their agreements :lol:.

Take the D ace and switch to the C Queen. Declarer may have 3-3 in the majors (pard might have led low from 3 in a major) and 5 diamonds. Even if declarer has AK of clubs, pard may not have wanted to lead from Jxxxx in C and your Q will set up the suit when you get in (D or S) and return your 2nd C.
