If 1NT rebid promise a balanced hand and 2-3 (forget 3if u want) isnt it better playing 2 with 5-2 fit than 1NT ??

With stronger hands it could be different but i would allways choise 5-2 fit instead of 1NT.

I understand why people pass if 1NT not promise a balanced hand, but thats not my style.

To put it in words of one syllable. "No! its not". Your S are too weak and you have scattered values. The 2S bidders deserve to run into a hefty penalty finding a S stack offside.

I systematically bid 2M with 5 cards and am still waiting to find big penalty on this contract.

I think that anybody who thinks that there is a right question to this question is absolutely wrong. If you very frequently raise on 3-card support and often rebid 1NT on a stiff you hardly can correct to 2S here. If you rarely raise on 3, and never rebid 1NT with a stiff, 2S has to be the right call imo. It is unlikely that your spade suit is going to be of much use in 1NT unless partner has 3-card support.

This hand was given in a play problem (bidding 1D-1S-1NT). With nice play 1NT could be made, 2S was cold.

2 is the bid, no matter if I have agreed to fit 1 with 3 good cards. I still can't believe how there are such a players who say PASS, and don't think about the 2? Even 2 looks better than 1NT.

You can't believe there are such players who say "pass"; well we are at least in some agreement. I can't believe there are players who post in this particular forum who bid so badly with 2S.

I said that I can't believe there are players who bid automatically PASS, w/o any thinking! (No offence intended!)
