  1. [hv=pc=n&w=sahqt543dat5caq43&e=skt542hk82dkct982&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=3dppdp3sp4hppp]266|200|Bidding at the other table was 3D - (P) - (P) - 3H - (P) - 4H - (P) - P - P[/hv] In a Swiss match, both tables got to 4H by different auctions. The initial doublers had the agreement that this auction strongly implies Hearts and Clubs. They would cue bid, then pull with a big 1 suiter. Who risked getting too high? Who risked not getting to game? The better players on my team were thinking about this differently that I was, so I am going to hide my identity. Their explanation did not quite satisfy me, so I'm trying to better understand this situation. Thanks All, Laurie
  2. Playing 2/1 with no interference, our auction went: 1S 2C 2H 2S 3C 3D 3S 4S 1. Can opener bid 3C with a fitting honor, or should it be real club support? 2. What is 3D? Thanks.
  3. I see. Overbid + overbid = too high. OK. Not such a complicated game after all, I guess. Next time, I won't overbid. Thanks all. Until my next mistake, Laurie
  4. That's fine, as long as I learn something. :) Thank you all in advance for the abuse. Laurie
  5. [hv=d=w&v=e&n=sat943hkqj2d63ck3&s=sk62h973dj42cj942]133|200|Scoring: IMP Bidding: (1♦) 1♠ (3♦)* P (P) 3♥ 4♦ 4♠ (X) *weak -300, -5 IMPS We play North's sequence to show an intermediate hand, but I expected more playing strength for the 3♥ bid, especially shorter ♦s on the bidding. I know I am 4-3-3-3, but I felt my support for both suits and lack of waisted values improved my hand. Please help my thinking on this hand. Thanks all.[/hv]
  6. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sjhq96532d43cq975]133|100|Scoring: IMP I am a beginner, but I got no response on the beginner/intermediate board. The bidding went: (1♠) X (2♠) 3♥ (4♠) X (P) 5♥ Two questions: Should I bid 4♥ instead of 3♥ at my first turn? Is pulling my partner's X justified, and if not, what hand would pull the X? Thanks for your help. [/hv] :)

  8. [hv=d=n&v=b&s=saj975hj2dq3ck76]133|100|Scoring: Rubber Partner opened 1♥, East passed, and I bid 1♠, West passed and partner bids 2♣, and east comes in with 2♦. Now what? I don't want to play these spades opposite a singleton or even a doubleton, but I feel like I have too much defense to just pass. 3♣ Also feels like an underbid. I chose to double, and partner took out to 2NT, which I thought was takeout per the bypass principle because 2♣ was not forcing. I bid 3♣ and partner bid 3NT. Partner made a nice end play for down 1. How should this auction go?[/hv]
