  1. I sub a Lot. So from a subbing point of view ... I don't expect to be told by anyone & it creates another problem if P were allowed to tell the sub. That being that dutiful pairs P's Could simply disconnect anytime they forgot their count, have the sub told how to play it, then reconnect next hand. Probably wouldnt happen but why risk trading one impropriety for another potential. Being told by declarer everything played would be nice & sporting & promptly forgotten by me and maybe throw him off his count. Pooltuna's suggestion seems most ethical to me. And I would quit subbing forever, if expected to memorize the first 32 cards played while someone is saying "your play, your play". lol . Admittedly, in This case of the Poster, it probably does work very well tho. But i wouldnt mind seeing an option to show past Honors (specifically) played and the rest as X's. And I might have time for that, since the guy saying "play play" IS the DIR often as not :) and it going to Adjust you pdq if you dont get moving. No perfect solution perhaps. Now if Declarer disconnected, it would be nice if Dummy could take over the hand. imo Another approach I favor is to ask ops outright "May I ask P XYZ info". If they say Yes then fine. (If not, so be it.) And if the info turns out to be wrong then there are no hard feelings that "declarer/ops misinformed me". But care would have to be taken not to convery "extra" info too; not approved by ops.
  2. Personally, I really dislike cue bidding under 4 level in pickup. Especially cue using a minor. 1) 3d might be interpretted as showing D stopper(s) asking if P can bid 3NT if he holds a Sp stopper, or to show a Sp stopper for 3NT ... depending who's to declare. 2) 3D might even be seen to mean wanting to play in D if Op opened short D, tho its a long shot I suppose. (I hope :) So I reserve my cues toward slam. I would want to have 16pts & 4 hearts there to say 3H unless it is a non-conservative situation (Must score or Goulash etc). Otherwise would prefer to confirm suit at 2H and let P show if he has extra or only has 4 cards. That's just the way I play, not an expert opinion. :) Well ok, if I hold 18+pts and AKQ H maybe go 3H without P length check. But I assume he is probably under 10pts & maybe minimal, or might have come back 2h. There is some reason he chose 1H. If he has real values, he won't leave me at 2h made merely as confirmation bid.
  3. Wow really?? Can my Robo's get some lessons from yours!? Seriously, they are not only slower (which I am gathering may be my connection speed) but Robo-P will always manage to overbid one trick. If it happens to find a correct bid, finds a way to lose a trick. My last hand the bidding went something like: 1!s P 2!h P, 3!c P 3!h P, 4!d P 4!h P, P(I give up) P I had a big hand for anything but my heart void. P reveals his hand, 5 hearts with 10 high & the rest under 8. Lol & cry . . .
  4. HI, The NEW hands I describe mean never before played nor scored by BBO, so that YOUR or MY result is the first ever recorded for that hand. (And in this tmt, no others came in to alter that). So that 9.3 and that 15 had no other table results to compare with. It stands alone, tho tables in the future are certainly affected by It :( I wonder if you are using BBO-ware or other? My browsers: IE7, FF, & aolExplorer have ALWAYS shown the result of other tables in the event; & any prior scores attributed to it if IMP. As you say, the MP or IMP's for them. I don't know if it showed cards played. For it is the MP/IMP info from other tables, that is missing now, which i would like back. For now even the "OTHER TABLE" TAB does Not show-up, you see. Nor imps; or even tricks/game scores for ops at other tables, that used to be there. In RESULTS at the top it says "MY TABLE". Just to the right of that has Always shown "Other Tables" of the event. Always until just the past couple weeks I guess. I never had to go to My Hands to see them before, as long as I did not start some other table or event right afterward. BUT T/Y for that thought, & I'll be looking there for that event soon to see what is showing. It was surely nicer to see Other Table IMPs during the event tho.
  5. Just a couple things to add. First, our IMP scores were the Only ones for those hands, no other tables that just needed time to come-in and alter IMP's. (In which case, I could see why a 1-hand delay in posting the imps, if multi tables needed to finish it) Secondly, that having the 2nd hand with only 1-prior played on a NEW hand is just as bad, since it just Reverses the first table's score. EG, They got 5.4 then you or your ops will get 5.4, right? Lastly, I have only played here from Christmas, so perhaps I am mistaken or fail to understand something/s of all this !?
  6. Today I entered an Ind.Tourney from one of the 3 big host @ BBO. After 3 very wild IMP's showing up, such as: 4h+1 =9.3, a Slam for over 15, & a 6!dX-1 for -12 even tho it scored only 100 & pre-empted ops from 4!h :( (5!h makable really) I began to wonder if those were brand "New" (unplayed & unstandardized) Hands. YES, they were. We sometimes see 1-2 New Hands in Tournament, which I find objectionable. (Let them be standardized at Main Competitive tables, or in Free Tourney, rather than Paid MasterPoint Tmts, imo) But now EVERY Hand of the 9 was absolutely NEW. I do not feel we should be paying an Entry Fee to basically do the club a favor in playing those hands, when the result is always wildly unpredictable. At very least, I think we should be notified under "MORE" info, that it will not be using tried & tested hands ...but more like a crap-shoot for IMP. Does anyone AGREE or DISAGREE about this? The other matter is that lately we cannot see Charts of Other Tables now during IND.Tmts ... tho Pairs & sometimes Matches CAN still see them as the Game progresses (or at least as OPs change in Pairs). Is this a change of Policy by those clubs to stop showing charts as-we-go? Or being due to NEW Hands being used and no info to display there?! I would very much like them back. IMHO. Wouldn't you too ?
  7. Why accept the traditional narrow range of 3? I use 5. :) Why not? Are you really going to get preempted by letting opener make the final decision? (Well you risk that already by playing so low in range. so what) Opener knows what he has hcp. Responder does not need to. Everyone knows responders responses. Just alter his range to make 3nt or 3 anything a call for Slam try , not Game. Opener decides on game trys. Works for me anyway.
  8. T/Y for all this information, Ben. C.A. Coll [scoti]
  9. OKay ...I've read, i've studied the GIB CC 3-4 Times. But I still do not know why my Robo-P believes 6NT is just a better reply for 2NT, than 3NT is!? Why It will DBL vs Ops 1sp/ 5-Card Opener, then itself Open 2sp next with 4cards in suit; THEN press that up to 3sp bid after I confirm ... I HAVE NO SPADES ...just enough Clubs to have bid 3-Clubs on (Not realizing, we were going to push our collective '4-Spade-powerhouse' right to the stratosphere. I Guess, so we Pre-empt crazy-Robops from trying for 2-Spades themselves !?? ...Mission Accomplished.) :( Who said 6!h Must Force to 7!h's with all the speed & power of a runaway locomotive(on drugs?!) :) !?!! Why does Robop sit for 1.5 minutes considering his lead card ? * * * * * * * Why do They do it? What are they doing to You lately? Is there SOME WAY to make a BID SIGN-OFF such that RoboP will accept it as such ? The only one way I am sure of is to Open our bidding myself with a Weak-2 Bid;, in which case RoboP will PASS, all the time or almost so. Regards All, C.A. Coll
