  1. From a simple beginner, at the table my line of play would of been to win with the As then let the Th run. If covered take the A and play diamonds throwing a club. If not covered then play diamonds and throw club as soon as in again.
  2. Well thanks for the replies the information on that double is very useful and seems a very good tool to have. A few quick questions I would assume you play the same way with a 1c p 1s 2d auction also? With 4 hearts i should bid 3h to show 5/4 giving partner a choice since he hasn't denied 4 hearts. If i swapped an x spade to an x club in the hand above is it simply a pass over the 3c interference. What would you then bid without interference just 2s showing a minimum hand and partner shouldn't take it for extra's and with a more then min hand just invite I suppose?
  3. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=skj864hq106dq654c3&s=s1072haj73dajt7ca6]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1d p 1s 2c X 3c 3s p 4s We were the only pair to get to game on this board. I think its more from luck though then good play. I am unsure of the reason for the double from partner in his place i would of passed and then the contract never gets to 4s. Any comments on how you might bid this to game would be welcome im just not sure how to responded past the 2c overcall. Bidding is just sayc
  4. Ok thanks, atm our game is much too simple for 4C or 4NT to have another other meanings then asking for keycards.
  5. Is there any specific reason for transferring at the 4 level rather then the 2 level and then keycarding in blackwood as opposed to gerber?
  6. [hv=d=w&v=b&w=s63hkq2da95caq964&e=sakq987542h6dqjc5]266|100|[/hv] W N E S 1NT P 2H P 2s P 4C P 4S P 5C P 5H P 6S P We play standard American and bid slam off RKCG. When reviewing our hands it was found that we were the only ones to be in slam. Just curious to know if we may of overbid the hand or if its the right contract to be in.
  7. Well I'm already very impressed with this forum. Thanks very much for all of you that have taken the time to post out excellent replies. There are a few books at our club so i'll see whats available there. As for playing on BBO i've always avoided it because it seemed that people just played a hand and left and there was always a juggling about of players between one hand and the next. Also I'm not sure how to find that BIL that was mentioned earlier. It's good to have found a place with people interested play and share knowledge. I like bridge more then poker but I have had a lot more people to discuss poker with so that has kept me thinking of more poker then bridge but with people to talk to about this game now i can see that going to change.
  8. Thanks for the replies and the recommendations for books. I'll also have a look into this BBO/BIL area also. Quick question about buying books in australia, are there any good sources of books that i could purchase online, or it is best to just use amazon?
  9. Hi all, I'm pretty new to bridge, only been playing for about 8 months. I would really like to improve my game however at the moment I'm a bit lost about how I should go about it. I play at a small club (4-5 tables) once a week and trying to get a partnership going with another newer member. I know there is a lot of different ideas about bridge a lot of which I don't think I need to focus on just yet. What I am hoping for is if some people on here could give me some ideas so I might structure some kind of learning plan, or get a few ideas on what topics, concepts I should be focusing my time on to get better. Any suggestions appreciated.
