  1. Playing 2/1, how do opener's hands differ in these auctions? 1♥ 2♣ 4♥ 1♥ 2♣ 2♥ 2♠ 4♥ 1♥ 2♣ 2♥ 2♠ 3♥ 3NT 4♥
  2. This hand is going to play horribly in your 5-2 diamond fit - where are your tricks? My partner has showed some clubs with 1nt. I have 6 of them, 3cl seems like a good spot.
  3. [hv=pc=n&s=sj3h7dkqj64caq982&n=skqt764hakqjd5ck5&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1sp2dp2hp3np4np6cp6nppp]266|200[/hv]
  4. Thanks very much. Gnasher's links certainly gave me a good laugh. It's safe to say the responses are what i was hoping for.
  5. Is playing one spade as non-forcing in this auction widely considered absurd, or is it played as NF by some sensible pairs? (1♦) - 1♥ - (P) - 1♠
  6. uncontested 1H -1N - 3H KQx 9x QJ10 J8xxx If you bid 4H, what sort of hand do you bid 3NT with? And what does 3S mean?
  7. lol i was thinking the same. Are you having a breakdown, wank?

    Good bid!

    Don't be such a killjoy
  9. I think you should do it with 15 because the times when you have gameish values the hand plays better when the high cards are more balanced between you and dummy. You go for a number when you don't have a decent runout suit (which is reasonably unlikely bearing in mind they've bid their suits) not because you're a jack light.
  10. (1♠) X (2♠) ? What do 2nt and X mean specifically?
  11. Obviously, if spades are 2-2 we need to lead a spade If declarer has one spade we must take partner's ace of spades before it disappears on hearts and wait for our diamond trick when LHO has AKJx hearts. I'm struggling to find a hand where a diamond is right - you need partner to have a top heart(seriously unlikely - LHO bids slam missing KQ KQ in his suits?) preventing declarer throwing his diamond away AND assuming this won't allow declarer to establish diamonds to throw a heart when dummy has AJxx f/e. Not to forget ofc all the hands when you give the diamond suit away. A heart is bizare - you need partner to have the K and probably the J or 10 (declarer can run it round to his J or 10 and then throw his diamond away) A passive club seems pointless with KQ Q in the slot. spade FTW.
  12. 1. 3nt -10 Most likely game and the long term winner IMO. They won't always lead a top spade. 4d- 5. It's what I've got but meh other  2. Pass-10 Good chance it will go down, happy to defend. dbl- 4. Agressive, looking to get them for a penalty and thus double them in 4D if they run. Only if I needed some IMps. other
  13. Having 4sf and then rebid his hearts twice he will have at least six good hearts. Even if you can't ruff a club in dummy you will still have good play for grand so for sure bid seven whoever the opponents are. Also, your 2nt is horrible imo. 3 hearts is much more descriptive.
  14. Thanks for your responses. Apologies for the lack of brackets (?!). I appealed the ruling which was that 6 hearts making would stand and subsequently lost. I thought this was pretty sick and I think these replies have confirmed it. The hand which hesitated had the Ace of diamonds and the king of spades but didn't fancy cuebidding! This is pretty damning for their case because clearly their bidding style does not make cuebids compulsory if they don't deem their hand to be suitable. I think KenRexford has a good point that there should be stop bids in slam bidding auctions. But, there aren't, so hesitating before declining to cue really should be avoided or punished. Poky - I don't understand your part (a) - surely that's an automatic sign off and not worth a hesitation sign off! (())
  15. The logic given was that if partner cannot make a diamond cuebid then he is almost certain to have a spade control and therefore you bid on with blackwood.
