  1. Vul vs non vul, dealer You hold: ♠ Axx ♥ AKQJxx ♦ KT ♣ Q9 Bidding goes 1H-X-3H-4S-? your bid 3H vul is a weak bid with 3-6 hcp and 4+ trumps
  2. Hi, I'm trying a strong club system and am wondering what are some methods people use after interference. Here are some of the common cases: 1) Natural interference at 1 level 2) Natural interference at 2 level 3) 2 suiter interference, one suit known 4) 2 suiter interference, both suits unknown Playing with my partner strong club, I opened 1C-(1S)-X (showing 6-9 any). Holding Ax,AKxxx,AKxx, Ax what would be your agreements on how to bid? Thanks for any advice on this topic! Gideon
  3. I guess I meant in a simulation with the only constraints being a 6-2 fit and 23 hcp combined, what is the probability of gaming 3NT double dummy.
  4. A simulation (1000) deals assuming both hands are at least semi balanced (but no other constraints like suit quality, intermediates, distribution of points between declarer and dummy etc.) shows a success rate double dummy of 32%. In practice (single dummy) it is likely to be slightly higher but not by very much, certainly below 40%. Rainer Herrmann This was what I was looking for. Thanks! Gideon
  5. Hi, Does anyone know the odds of making 3NT with a 6-2 fit and 23 hcp exactly? Will it be more or less than 50%? Thanks! Gideon
  6. ♠K6 ♥AKQ1063 ♦AK652 white/red, 4th seat Bidding goes: pass-pass-2C*-X (you) 3C - pass - 4C - 4NT (showing 2 suits) pass - 5D- pass - ? How would you bid this? * 2C shows 5+ clubs 10-15 3C is non constructive
  7. So, it turned out pd had: kxx AKxxx xxx kx After winning KH, pd figured that the only way to set the contract was if I had qC and he gets a ruff (it seemed improbable I have 2 diamond honors based on the HCP) - and I fully agree with his analysis. It turned out, a D switch when he got in with kS was necessary to set the contract, as declarer played qH discarding a diamond in dummy losing to partner's AH, and jH tossed the last D loser for just making.
  8. I guess, the question here is still whether the card you play shows count or attitude. Is attitude obvious? (I.e you clearly do not want this suit continued, so it can't be attitude?) Is suit preference obvious? (Dummy has a singleton and you probably *won't* want a H return)
  9. Yup - playing udca, 2 will be the card to show count
  10. Yes, I thought attitude (I have no ace) and suit preference (not Hearts) was obvious. Seemed like the only useful thing to give partner was count, so that he can get full count of the hand on top of clubs?
  11. I guess more specifically, is this a count situation or an attitude situation?
  12. Thanks Jdonn! Yes I'm still trying to figure out how to use this forums =)
  13. IMPS, unfavorable, Dealer North Dummy: ♠ AQT62 ♥ 5 ♦ J85 ♣ J965 Your hand (South): ♠ 73 ♥ T872 ♦ KQ3 ♣ 8742 West North East South 1♥ 1NT 2♥ 3♥ Pass 3♠ Pass 4♠ Pass Pass Pass You lead 7H, pd wins the KH. Pd plays KC, declarer wins with the Ace of club Playing UDCA, what do you play?
  14. Thanks for the quick responses! What is the thinking behind whether to sac or not? Is it the Ace of spades?
  15. Holding as dealer at favourable vulnerability: A KQJ985 82 jxxx Bidding goes 1H-(1S)-2H-(3D)-3H-(4S)-p-p-? 3D was alerted as diamond suit with probably 2 cards in spades. What would you bid?
