My partner and I use this, we came up with this to be able to show shortness by either opener or responder 1M -2C: Limit Raise with 3 or 4 trump ----2D: Full opener, asks for more info ------2M: 3 trump, no shortness --------OM/3C/3D: opener's short suit game try -----------3M: Responder's hand does not fit well with opener's shortness -----------4M: Responder's hand fits well with opener's shortness ------3M: 4 trump, no shortness, not 4333 shape ------2NT: 4 trump, 4333 shape ------2OM/3C/3D: 3 trump, shortness in OM/C/D ------3OM/4C/4D: 4 trump, shortness in OM/C/D ----2M: substandard opening, sign off (can be raised to 3 by hand with 4 trump) ----2OM/3C/3D: 5+ card side suit, 5 or fewer losers, slam interest ----3M: full opener, no shortness, slam interest, asks for immediate control bids ----3OM/4C/4D: shortness, 5 or fewer losers, slam interest ----4M: full opener, but no slam interest After opener bids a 2nd suit or shows shortness, a return to the Trump suit by responder shows no interest in slam. With interest, responder bids their cheapest 1st or 2nd round control.

I play systems on (including Lebensohl) after a NT overcall, so this double for me is penalty.

Defend or save help for me.

This is what I use with my partner and we love it. 2N-3N shows a 5S4H hand with game values, it is then openers choice to pass or correct to a major. 2NT-3S forces opener to rebid 3NT. Responder either passes or bids the following: 4C: slam try in clubs, opener can bid 4N/5c to sign-off otherwise answers RKC for clubs 4D: slam try in diamonds, as above 4H: 5/5+ minors, shortness in hearts. Opener can bid 4N/5m to sign off, otherwise answers 6-keycard blackwood for both minors 4S: 5/5+ minors, shortness in spades, as above

You say the bidding was identical at both tables... are you sure the auction is right? If so north at both tables opened 1NT on a 5521?

If so, PM me please

I'm not worried about being at the 3 level opposite a 3 card LR... isn't this the same as 1M-1NT(F)-2x-3M showing a 3 card LR in 2/1 or 1M-2x-2y-3M in Standard? Also, when opener shows shortness, it's more of a slam try than a game try. It's a hand that would have bid game opposite a LR, but may have further aspirations if partner's values are working. The only hands we are forced to the 4 level is when RESPONDER has shortness and a 4 card LR (10-11 HCP). Being in 4M with a 9 fit and shortness in the short trump hand seems like a fine place to be most of the time. I think it will help us find more thin games then cause us to go down in cold part scores. Constructive 4 card support can be shown by a simple raise, followed by competing to the 3 level if necessary.

My partner and I have been playing reverse 2-way drury for a while now, but we decided to see if we could make it any better. This is what we came up with. Please critique and comment... P-1M .....2C: Limit Raise with 3 or 4 trump ..........2D: Full opener, asks for more info ...............2M: 3 trump, no shortness ....................OM/3C/3D: full opener, short in OM/C/D .........................3M: Responder's hand does not fit well with opener's shortness .........................4M: Responder's hand fits well with opener's shortness ................3M: 4 trump, no shortness, not 4333 shape ................2NT: 4 trump, 4333 shape ................2OM/3C/3D: 3 trump, shortness in OM/C/D ................3OM/4C/4D: 4 trump, shortness in OM/C/D ..........2M: substandard opening, sign off (can be raised to 3 by hand with 4 trump) ..........4M: full opener, but no slam interest

no thats a 4c bid

To me, partner should never bid 4NT over 4♠... 4♠ was a tell me more bid. What does 4NT tell me? I already know he has both minors.
-
4♠ is what I bid. To me it showed my hand exactly. I have extra values, I have a 6th heart, and I have a fit in a minor. It shows doubt of strain, but is forward going. Partner bid 5♥, and I settled us into a making 6♥. If partner had bid 5C, I'd have bid 6D and let him pick between 6D and 6H. His hand was xx xxx KTxx AJT9 3S bidder held Kxx of hearts. I won the A♠,crossed to AD, heart to the J, Q, K. Club return dropped the QC, claim.
-
4♦ is non forcing here. The only force I have is 4S and 4NT(pick a minor)

What's your call? A AQT6xx AJxx Kx Red v white, imps. You deal and the auction starts: 1H-(3S)-X-(P) Your call...

Heading out to vegas for a week in september (16-23) and was thinking about looking for a game/partner out there... anything going on?

[hv=pc=n&w=sakt97654h4d8cak5&e=s3hakj987652d52c6]266|100[/hv] With West as dealer, how do you avoid 6S and land in 6H? My partner opened 4NT (BW) and after my 5D (1) response bid 6S. If he opens 2C, it goes 2C-2NT! (hearts) 3S-6H 6S
-
good thing i bid 6♣! Partner put us in 6D with a 3451 hand stiff A♣, I think he feared a diamond lead being ruffed in 6♥ Unfortunately at MP, we barely got avg+
