This is a matter of partnership agreement. With one partner I would, with another partner I wouldn't.

As in all bidding contests sometimes the best score is a bid I would never make at the table without extensive prior discussion.

In real life 4♦ is unconditionally forcing and 100% sets diamonds as trumps. After that responder should cue, bid 4NT; or sign off in 5♦ with absolutely nothing.
