  1. South stopped in 3♦ and has shown AKQ in the suit together with King♠ and J in Hearts which accounts for 13HCP....holding another ace or KQ he would have gone on. West's overcall places him/her with ♣Honours as he did not overcall with just the King of the suit and nothing outside. Club King is correct to smother South's possible honour in the suit.
  2. Thanks for the reply. That is an accurate description of the problem and it occurs only in V1. Screenshot: http://ballinabridgecongress.com/images/GIB.jpg I asked a friend in another country to log in using my nick and there was no problem there...the issue is local to my computer. Thanks for your time. Problem solved by cute_smile...big hugs for you Bev...I must have unticked "Include trick totals in double dummy analysis" by mistake....GIB is now alive and well on my computer!
  3. I've been a BBO TD as Nephin Mor for about 6 years and never had a problem with GIB until recently. On V1 only, when I use GIB, DD Analysis, it shows a red or green box on bottom corner of cards which may be legally played or just outside cards if on the table. The value (number or =) is not shown. When I kib on V1 with another nick, from the same computer, GIB reports as normal. Support have told me the problem has to do with accounting as GIB is not free to everyone: why do I have it for V2 and not for V1? Best regards, Vincent
  4. Glad this came up. I found the GIB very useful too and miss it very much. Why was it removed from Show Board History menu but is still there when kibbing live play?
  5. Thank you Bill and Tola for sharing your views. Just a few points: 1. I think that if Minibridge is to get off the ground on BBO it will have to be achieved without involving any extra workload for the BBO backroom team, (apart from assigning a room) so modifications may not be entertained by them. 2. The Declarer in Minibridge is chosen so that the stronger of the two hands is not exposed as Dummy...just like the regular game. 3. I have tried Minibridge on BBO with 15/16 year olds in a school, using the format described and it works, but players don't meet new people. 4. Giddy players will sometimes report point count incorrectly but opps will figure out a way of dealing with these bluffers....just as in the real game
  6. Minibridge is a Bridge game for beginners. For details see: http://www.greatbridgelinks.com/gblCLASS/Mini.html Minibridge is taught in some schools and the students are shown how to play the game on BBO. Method Players go into Relaxed Bridge Room and start a new table. After cards are dealt, each player, starting with the Dealer announces HCP in a text to the table. Partnership with greater number of HCP become the declaring side, and player with higher number of HCP in that partnership becomes declarer. If there is a tie, player with more spades becomes Declarer. Other partner of declaring side then texts hand to the table in SHDC order, and Declarer bids using normal buttons; the other players passing, or doubling as case mey be. Cards are played as normal from then on, and BBO does the rest. Would it be possible to open a Minibridge Club on BBO so that players could log in to play Minibridge with players from other countries without the need to have their own friends online at the same time? Maybe Minibridge tournaments could be hosted on BBO if it took off.
