  1. Old Canadian joke: Man 1: I went to the fights last night ... Man 2: Was it any good? Man 1: Naw, a hockey game broke out ...
  2. We seem to be drifting towards the concept of technological singularity ... the last thing our species will invent is an intelligent (sentient) computer (program). Unless the bots are being very devious, it don't think we are in any danger ... but then that's what they want us to think ...
  3. Blog post says: "The tourney host ( not a TD, the host – the person who created the Tourney ) must be online at tourney start time" and it is in big letters, so I think she's serious about this. I don't think there is any requirement for the Host to stay logged in for the duration of the tourney. I also believe that all the description strings no longer have any case sensitivity. Peter
  4. Having such an option would be OK but I think watching the play that occurred helps the TD (most of the time) come up with the correct adjustment. i.m not such a good player so certainly helps me, It's the times when it comes down to a guess that I find most difficult. GIB will always assume declarer guesses right.
  5. I too have played the first (last) two days with no sign of results. No way I did well enough on day 1 to make the top 8. Interface shows I'm still registered for the tournament (yellow) even after I played the boards. It won't let me play again. Peter
  6. Documentation is here: https://blog.bridgebase.com/2020/04/18/how-to-run-howell-for-small-tourneys/ If the host account has the permit to use Howell movements ... and is online when the tourney starts ... and you set 18 boards with 3-boards per round ... and run Clocked ... it should do what you describe.
  7. So, are these upgrades for ACBL only or are the virtual club accounts for other NBO's included? Peter
  8. That's what I'm expecting ... not that I'm going anywhere ...
  9. It's called a rounding error. Calculate the %age score for each player on each board; but only to 4 sig figs ... 51.11% say. Thus, depending on the number of tables this number will be more or less accurate. Some scores get rounded up, some down. To calculate each pairs final score; add up the %age scores on all the boards played; divide by number of boards played. Some pairs can get lucky ... others not so. We've been doing it this way for the past [some number] years; why should we change now?
  10. Indeed, I lost connection and logged back in ... things back to normal. Very strange, computers for you I suppose.
  11. I bid 4♥ and hope for the best. My partners will expect just this sort of hand.
  12. If you know the id of one of the players you can use the Hand Record tool.
  13. There is indeed. I've seen examples where one pairs is ranked above an other but has fewer match points. Very sloppy to do your rounding/truncation in the middle of the calculation rather than at the end.
  14. Sounds reasonable ... does this mean only the virtual club Host of the tournament retains access ... assistant directors in large games might also benefit.
