  1. Thanks for your replies. I had AKQJx Kx Kxx xxx and bid 3S. Since X and 4C would be super accept for hearts, I didn't think 3S can be construed as heart support but that doesn't seem to be the case. Post this bidding, I figured my hand has really improved. My reasons for bidding 3S were to introduce the suit for lead directing purposes if we defend clubs and introduce spades as a possible strain. 4S might make opposite xxx QJxxx QJxx x for example. Will the fora pass with the hand I had or will you open something else in the first place?
  2. had a disagreement with p on this auction. 1N - (2C) - 2D - (3H) - 3S 1N 15-17 2C clubs and higher 2D transfer 3H club support What does 3S mean for you in this auction? Thanks.
  3. [hv=d=w&v=n&n=shk9xxdaqxckqjtxx&w=sakjxxxhaqxxdxxcx&e=sqt9xxxhtxdjxcxxx&s=sxhj8xdkt97xxcaxx]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] (1♠) - 2♣ - (4♠) - p ( p ) - X - p - 5♣ (p) - p - (5♠) - All pass I don't know if its possible to bid the slam but at the very least 5♠ should have been Xed. South says his Pass of 5♠ is forcing now. North says South could have a yarborough and this is not a forcing situation and so he didn't X.
  4. I seemed to have noticed that few people who used to have stars on BBO no longer have them. Wonder why that happened!
  5. I couldn't figure 2 out. It seems i am an entry short.. I can get to the position x xxx opposite x AQ9 but with the lead in hand. Can anyone help?
  6. Just to clarify 2/1 is 100% forcing to game. with 3 card support and such a nice heart suit, I decided to game force with it. I think this is going to be a standard view.
  7. You are sitting South. North deals and opens 1S. The auction(uncontested) goes 1♠ - 2♥ 3♥ - ? Q1: Should 3♥ show extra values? Even if with 4 card support? Q2: If 3♥ was based on a 4 card support, does it deny shortness somewhere? Q3: What would a raise to 4♥ by North show instead? Q4: Is 3♠ by South a double fit or is it a control in support of hearts? Q5: Assuming you have the following hand, what do you respond to 3♥? [hv=d=n&v=b&s=sjxxhakqjxxdxxcxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]
  8. Partner doesn't seem to have spade shortness or else i guess we would have seen more bidding from opponents. I pass. Hope 4C makes!
  9. Take it easy, dude. Apologize if you found that offensive. Not my intent to offend anyone here! And no I am not trying to defend against changes. I don't care. I am not even a native English speaker! Just posted it here because I used to use "anyways" a lot earlier as well. And then i found out that it is not actually the "right" form.. so i started using "anyway".. thought this might benefit people if they didn't already know.. Sorry!
  10. Slight OT. http://grammartips.homestead.com/anyway.html
  11. 1♠ - (p) - 2♦ - (DBL) ? DBL = other two suits. Assuming that without interference, you play the style where rebid of the major is the catchall bid with higher bids promising extras. What do the following bids mean? Pass = Rdbl = 2♥ = 2♠ = 2NT = 3♣ = 3♦ = There might be followup questions. Thanks in advance
  12. Agree with both comments. 3S shows what you have. Opener can judge to play in 3N. Also, partner's 4S shows he might have opened a weakish 5-5. So, i pass.
  13. Ok, since a dbl is unanimous, what do you do if partner responds 4m?
  14. I will stay passive and play Queen of spade and another.
