For me, between rebooting and deleting cache in browser it fixed it. Note if you open another browser, or perhaps a private/incognito session of the same browser, it should work. That means cache clear would fix it.
-
I had the issue too, and opening an Incognito tab allowed it to work so it was a caching issue. For me actually I rebooted first and it worked, but had that not, I would have deleted the cache.

Bidding against the field
DJNeill replied to DavidKok's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I spoke with Kit Woolsey for an hour and I brought up the idea of field, and he simply said, "F*** the field". -
I think it is more likely you are getting better.

Hi all, In case it is not available elsewhere, the chinese language version of Standard Modern Precision is available at: https://ebooksbridge.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_101&products_id=785 If anyone has other marketplaces it is available at (likely licensed through Masterpoint Press), I would appreciate a PM with a link so I can help promote. The English version has been out for a while on that site or other bridge book selling sites (and Amazon). Thanks, Dan

Last week maybe for me, myhands "Movie" links pop open a window that now has the full menu/bookmarkbar, not just a pane, so like a full browser session. It's better to popout to a tab, but ok a new window is fine, but to have the full browser controls at the top gets in the way of what should just be a movie pane and nothing else. Interestingly, if I close that popped-open browser, then re-click the same movie link, now it opens as it should, without the browser control. But a different movie link the first time clicked again shows the browser controls (until re-clicked). Chrome, Windows11. Thank you!

Dutch Doubleton "negative or natural 1D"
DJNeill replied to Kungsgeten's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
More details about Dutch Doubleton (modern style played by various pros) https://bridgewithdan.com/product/professional-dutch-doubleton-bidding-system/ -
Hi, Currently, when the host of the table, if you click a player's name, the first option is Remove, the last one is View Profile. I would suggest that the most used option is first. It seems removing is rarely the first thing I am interested in. I have accidentally removed a player or two over the last few months and I am guessing when I am randomly removed (a few times last few months) it is probably the same thing. Thanks, Dan

Hi all, If anyone is interested in asynchronous analysis (you play whenever, I look at movies on myhands in my spare time and provide thoughts by email), please reach out to me on DM or dan@bridgewithdan.com. My speciality is expert bidding treatments and over-the-shoulder thinking (a la Mike Lawrence, though he's the best in my view at that). See bridgewithdan.com for references. Thanks, Dan ('djneill' on BBO)

Pending category includes those that are ongoing. Have a "play now" category. Pending implies "going to start sometime soon, take a look". I never play in ongoing, but I definitely don't like scrolling every time (yes you can filter) to find the ones that have a definite start time (can't join late, time is important, scrolling takes away the time). But if I did play ongoing, I would feel like "pending" is a bit of a misnomer too, and my screen may be cleaner if it just had my ongoing ones I was interested in. Or, a clean break in the two types on the Pending page would help a lot too (or a toggle filter). This could be accomplished with just inserting two blank lines between the two, so it would catch ones eyes when scrolling.

legal vs psyche in new ACBL chart
DJNeill replied to DJNeill's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Good info thank you! Looks like a 3rd seat switch to naturalish openings would catch the sweetest spot for the very ability to open light or tactically. It's their hand, seems a shame to pass. -
Hi, The new ACBL charts are great, preserving principles to protect our game at the low levels, letting experts be experts at the high level, and defining everything as best as possible. I'm playing TOSR (as most people do starting out), where: 1C = 15+ value any shape (17+ 3/4) 1D = 4+H 10-14 value (11-16 3/4) 1H = 4+S 10-14 value (11-16 3/4) 1S = 4+ 4+ minors, may have a 4/5M, 10-14 value (11-16 3/4) 1N = 12(11)-14 (14[13]-16 3/4) 2m = 6+crd 1suiter 10-14 value (11-16 3/4) This is Open+ ACBL I think, only will be played in long team matches in top events, or BBO open room games. In the new charts, can you still open with less than the prescribed range in 3rd seat tactically (is "tactically" still the term they use)? Or does the system mean tactical bids no longer exist, you must have your range/value 100% of the time or you are penalized? Does the above system mean you cannot psyche (e.g. a couple times a year out of the blue) at all (open 1D [that is hearts] 3rd seat with QJTx hearts and nothing else? Or does the system mean that psyches do not exist and are immediate penalties?

Looks like a feature of BBO Helper extension, or what they advertise as a feature.

I will QA this issue for free if BBO would provide the resources, and I could document the testing. Tom, you can review the work. BBO risks nothing and gets customer satisfaction. Win-win-win?
-
Yes I looked back 2 years in this sub-forum and it doesn't seem anyone has mentioned this specifically, more about the location of the popup rather than the fact it pops up at all like here. It seems so easy to fix. But as working in QA, I like the conservatism. If current BBO is a maintenance product (devoting resources elsewhere more important, just make sure it doesn't catch fire), this is good to only respond to the biggest fires. If you change something, however minor, it's a risk something else will break. I don't think there is a lot of automation testing in a complex GUI product (there could be, but it's difficult to maintain), with lots of unforeseen ways for a small change to have an effect. With hundreds of thousands of users, and lots of money coming in every minute, even a short problem could cost so much money. It would take a lot of testing by someone manually to ensure the change would be safe. Uday and co. have more important stuff to work on.

Hi, Not sure if this has been suggested, but currently if you click on an opponent's unalerted call in the bid box it will prompt the opponent to explain. This is good. If they alerted but did not explain, same thing. Also good. But if an explanation was attached to the call by the bidder already, it's just annoying the explainer who thinks they did type an explanation. Then it gets into a potential click-fight to see who can make the same thing happen as many times as possible (I won't explain again, tell me more, I won't explain again, tell me more). Suggestion: if a call has been explained (something typed into the box when it was made, or even after it was made), that should stop any more prompts for explanations using this functionality (so, make the bid unclickable to the opponent, or have it just make the explanation appear again for them). If the opponent of the explainer wants more info on an explained call, they will have to chat the question. Side note, a great coffeehousing technique, only on BBO would it work. Thanks, Dan

Anyone have experience playing BBO with arthritic hands? Any dictation or UI tools that work well specifically with BBO to reduce use of the fingers?
-
Is there any way to go further back than myhands allows?
-
What's the latest best way to download all one's own BBO hands, for someone who is not a programmer?
-
Awesome thank you, looks like 6.5'ish minutes/board for the normal 18-boarder.
-
For the ACBL online regional, how many hands per session, and time allotted per hand? https://web2.acbl.org/documentLibrary/play/TNTSchedule.pdf
-
Fixed for me now too.
-
Myhands issue is fixed now for me, and got an email from BBO support indicating they did make a fix for it.
-
Try installing firefox as a temp workaround, then log in to BBO in firefox.
