  1. To Barmar in response to ur question.. , at the time, I thought it asked partner to bid and showed that I had a good opening but couldnt overcall or double and had no normal bid to make. I think I see ur point on the take out double, if I was going to lie a little why not lie with a TO double. Tks
  2. With ♠K65 ♥A105♦K86♣A873 In direct position I overcalled 1 diamond with 2 diamonds Left hand oponent doubled partner passed and I went 2NT as escape. partner bid 3 hearts which happen to make plus one What was the correct overcall if any? I dont post michaels on my bbo card. As my partner how would you iterpret the 2 diamond q bid ?
  3. Wife and I getting into duplicate bridge after being casual and infrequent rubber bridge players. We were taught many years ago a 12 HCP,4 card maj system opening higher of touching and lower on non touching. With 15-17 one NT, limit raises with 4 cards in support (2 raise = 6 to 9 hcp, 3 raise = 10-11hcp and 4 raise is weak with 5 to 6 cards in support). Also 2 NT is 4 card suppt with 12 HCP and forcing. Since we are at a crossroads and want to devote serious time to study and play should we continue with the 4 card system as our foundation or change to something else like sayc. Notice not many people use 4 card maj here in Calif. but that may be to our advantage. In any case has the 4 card system proven to be inferior and if so what is a better alternative? Thanks
  4. My wife and I have played infrequently and casually for years and enjoy bridge. Recently we have been playing and reading more with the goal of building a foundation from which we can make steady progression in our bridge skills We would like to understand the 2/1 approach and my question is are there recommended articles etc. on the internet that would explain the very basics including which suits to bid given varying or identical lengths, response etc. Also we will be playing both rubber and duplicate and is 2/1 suitable for both. Thank You
