  1. I play almost 100% "Take me to the first seat available" and that's one of the features I really like about BBO, connecting with bridgers from all over the world. It's amazing to be in the SE USA turning cards with players from Bulgaria, Turkey, Israel, Germany, Australia, and everywhere else. What can be very frustrating though is trying to find a p who plays my system(SAYC); I imagine the 2/1, Acol, Precision, etc. players feel the same way. Obviously, when you're seated at a new table, the first thing you do is check your p's profile...most of the time their system is "Private" and I definitely don't know that one! Sometimes I have only 20-30 minutes to play and spend 10 of those minutes looking for a p I can understand. Would it be possible to put check-boxes in one's profile to indicate the system(s) played, then have a "Find me a game" option that will place you only with p's who play your system?
  2. Using BBO Flash, the cards immediately disappear after the 4th hand plays to the last trick of a deal and the only way to know what happened is to look at the score. In a perfect world of totally focused players, everyone would know what those last cards were but I'll admit to not always being one of those players. Secondly, not leaving the cards on the table for a few seconds means you don't get that bit of satisfaction from making or setting a close contract. Certainly not a major issue, just a thought.
  3. I play a few times almost every day, anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours between 9am and 9pm, USA, Eastern time zone. SAYC as described on the ACBL website: http://web2.acbl.org/documentlibrary/play/...gle%20pages.pdf As far as my skill level - in the middle of the Advanced category. Sometimes I play very well and sometimes I make stupid mistakes. However, I have been playing duplicate for only ~8 months after a brief 30-year layoff and am getting better as the volume of hands played increases. I am looking for a regular partner who is also in the Advanced category(or a better player with a lot of patience) so that we can develop the understandings that come only from playing and discussing the game together. My only absolute requirement is that you be good-natured and fun; I promise that I will be.
  4. Because of what is probably a problem buried somewhere in the Mac's infinite network configuration options, my BBO connection will sometimes drop in the middle of a hand with no warning messages from BBO and no clues in the error logs. I don't think this is a BBO problem because it happens only on my iMac(Firefox or Safari) and not my PC(Firefox), also because a nearby partner has an identical system and no problems. I guess I'll fix it or it will fix itself, eventually, but meanwhile... The problem is not so much the link dropping as it is not knowing that it's happened in time to rejoin the table. By the time I realize partner or opp isn't diving in the think tank, everyone has given up and partner has had to apologize and explain on my behalf. Is there a way to place a small "I'm alive" icon that flashes or glows in a way that indicates that BBO and the browser are currently on speaking terms?
