Thank you for the posting of the Power Ranking/Rating information. I found this interesting. I noted that clubs using ACBL SCORE can also choose to use this system for stratification. I wonder if any clubs are now doing so.

I agree with gnasher. It is dangerous to open the hand with 1 spade. Partner may very well unsuccessfully double opponents' contract at a high level. I wouldn't open the dealer's hand but I would bid it to the 5 level showing both suits if forced to.

It DOES depend on agreements. In my partnerships, this is the only 2/1 bid that is not game forcing.

I agree with everyone here.. your 2 spade bid sounds like 4 spades....

at trick 2, a of hearts. then K of diamonds I intend to eventually get to dummy with a 2nd diamond (saving A of spade entry for a later dump of a club on the 3rd diamond). Then I will play a heart, playing the 10 of hearts if a heart honor does not show up on my right.

The 2 diamond bid would have been a limit raise in clubs, but the statement made by the 2 diamond bidder indicates that she really did have diamonds (unauthorized information). So, as director I believe that the opening leader could have/should have been forbidden to lead a diamond on opening lead or for as long as he/she held that lead. Since the opening leader did not lead a diamond when she had the opportunity to do so, things worked out normally anyway.

I don't understand those who say that you now must pass 3nt as you have already described your hand as game forcing on the 3 club bid. Partner opened 1 club. You hold 20 hcp with a nice 5 card suit and good clubs. you may have made the same bid with considerably less than 20 hcp. Partner does not know you have this good a hand. Once partner opens his hand, I am going to be hard pressed to stay out of slam. Noreen p.s. In my partnerships we would play that a jump to 2 spades is the 4th suit game forcing bid.

How about 3 ♥ instead of 3nt? SOS redouble if you bid 3nt and it is doubled.

Twice now my membership in the forum has disappeared and I have had to re-register in order to participate. I just did so again and re-registered with my same name--movingon. I now show as a new member. This is strange. I am just wondering if it has happened to anyone else?
