  1. I don't the HCP range is so bad- its rather that it should have a definition in 8421 points- I'd say less than 22. Unfortunately due to the lazy design of the system you don't have decent alternative- 3♥ or 3♠ should cover hands with too much strength and/or too many controls which 8421 is good as a measure for.
  2. 2H sounds good- your superb fit is surely direct at having one cover in hearts, a finesse in diamonds and a probably running 6 card clubs suit, if the cover in hearts isn't there then 5 clubs looks more likely.
  3. Nope it succeeded. GIB either cued back or went straight to 4NT- I think the latter. This is the new free weekly tournament.
  4. I found slam by cueing 4♣- if you pushing to game then you might as well consider slam possibility.
  5. Yes its insane to enter a game force auction with anything less than very extreme shape. And yet GIB will not sacrifice. Play for free- I open 1♦ vulnerable, GIB bids 2NT (unusual)nonvulnerable, GIB partner cues 3♣, GIB responder holding five clubs including the KQJxx and 5422 shape bids 4C. I raise to 4D and partner pulls to game. 2NT held 6 clubs to A, A of diamonds, K of hearts with 5. 5 ♦contract is solid. 6♣ contract is only two down.
  6. Your point is to disagree with me or agree or somewhere in between. This 1NT is a rebid by opener. One stopper is no guarantee by any means- just pushing yourself into a mediocre contract.
  7. Now you are giving GIB an unlimited bid for 1NT rebid is it 15,16,17... HCP then how does it respond with more 6 HCP - digging your own grave.
  8. You are keen to play 12-14 trump versus 6-7 with a lead suggested. 12-14 NT with no information is reasonable go but not with lead information.
  9. Why not over 1C/1D,-,1H/1SX, 1NT is 3 card support with 5 of the minor 12-14 HCP 12-15 TP so it can either bid to 2 of the major or 2 of the minor, redouble is 3 card support and 15+HCP forcing 2 of the major at least, pass is no 3 card support possibly having a penalty double for the at least the major response to double or just a poor hand. After the pass, the major responder can double with 9+HCP and 4/5 of the major.
  10. I believe so- the description is a bit wonky but they don't have a means to say usually 4♠ with longer minor so you need to bid 2NT to get the minor suit.
  11. What do you think they should be defined as?
  12. Its the opening that traps it into this absurd sequence though it did strongly hint about its unusual hand by bidding hearts twice and you ignored the message. It can't do a reverse 2H and it tends to consider the HP before the hand shape.
  13. I'd say its mixed up its natural bid with cue bid alerts- its absurd that it doesn't bid 3♥ first.
  14. You mean you feel its definition of that bid in that sequence is not good. Its explanation is totally correct ie totally accurate description of the hand it has however North's response that bid is totally stupid. The problem is that it has no clear forcing bid over 1NT so 3NT as 19-21 HCP is reasonable. I believe 2NT is not forcing neither is 2C or 2D. Its a standard problem with most systems- if you have forcing 1NT then there is no simple way to explore alternative contracts towards 3NT.
  15. The contract could have been a straight out disaster assuming a sensible lead if South had less cover over spades and clubs and KQ diamonds leading to 4 spade losers and ace of heart.
  16. And even if it had both aces and K♠ , there is no way with decent defence to make 7NT- its 0HCP otherwise and most likely 5 spades.
  17. It started with with ace of clubs- which partner GIB ignored when he switched to hearts by opening up spades.
  18. Insanity all round. North is ridiculously pushing with a passed hand and RED vulnerability. West has only a choice of unusual "cue" bid which offers nothing extra. South can't read descriptions. West passed out suicidal bid. On Hand 3 you see that NT bidding has not improved- its a straight forward 3NT not 3S.
  19. Its hand matches its description- I don't think the description is sensible but its seems designed to handle poor human bidding- you have no chance in 3NT with a sensible heart lead and follow- occasionally GIB is sensible in its leads and even follows to lead well- rarely its even deadly accurate. Your bid is 3 clubs- hopefully that means game invite with four spades. You really need to either fit the description for 3NT or have at least 2 and 1 1/2 covers in the red suits and preferably some support for clubs and 13HCP- say four low spades.
  20. What is the directed fix? So we check its actually doing that in v34.
  21. 3NT is solid at that point and GIB doesn't see the layout as exposed at trick 1- it programmed too dumbly to do that. That has been shown many many times with wins of the first trick with 5 of suit. No point in pointing out misdefence or declarer play as BBO will never fix GIB's play or even check the GIB's play programming.
  22. The 3♠ cue is not defined all- its the opening hand definition- no wonder GIB just bids it. It would be better to just include impossible to be bid after a penalty double of partner's suit- then clubs would be the straightforward bid, partner corrects to diamonds- a make contract and sacrifice into spades looks reasonable. Its easy to imagine that there could be minor suit with North-South- just give all the spade honours to East-West and 6/6 Minor suits in North and not too much Heart honours in South's hand. Lycier given you know how crazy/badly programmed GIB is, its one of those times to keep quiet in the bidding- your position is highly suggestive of North having long minors and with expert/good intermediate human opponent you should also keep quiet-they'd be sure to get the minor contract.
  23. Its the excessively restrictive requirements for No-trump bids. The GIB programming thinks that people need over-descriptive GIB bid descriptions which at time strait-jacket GIB and other times leads to bids that bear no resemblance to the description. People need to get past the description of how many cards in each suit and more the general quality of the bids.
