That hand is technically impossible 18HCP. Gib can't be inviting to game since it passed 2H.

Trying for a new low in play.

You are exactly right Yu. Every post should be some reply to the original OP or in a similar vein.

So E/W are cold for slam here (well, 6H needs trumps 3-2 on repeated spade leads, 6C is just cold barring a ruff) and they let us play in 3S undoubled? And it doesn't meet GIB's requirements for a double since it has only 2 diamonds. Next: Second table So, from East's perspective, West has approximately 1 spade from the bidding, so is 98x really a stopper? And why does West fail to bid hearts. There's no point in throwing 2 clubs away here, the only time it gains is when trumps are 5-0 meaning you go less down. Otherwise that's 2 overtricks thrown away. So much for GIB simulations.

For such a Green vul position then its OK as it leads opponents to difficult contracts -any other vul such as White or Amber it is bad- I'd say 50% of the HCP should be in main suit and for Red it must 70% otherwise it could play better elsewhere with partner. Its not the point of preempt to be nice to opponents but to knock them down but you have to reasonable to partner since he might have a good suit which might play better and maybe reach a slam.

NT is not supposed to be a 5-4 hand so it your silly decision.

http://www.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands.php?traveller=3980-1353150001-46590831&username=mike777 Another bad one since you didn't roll your cursor over your proprosed bid to see that GIB's system doesn't play "gambling 3NT" rather it plays strong balanced 3NT - lucky that EW make 5♥. Lucky for you that GIB defensive bidding and play is so appalling. Unlucky for you that GIB defense to 5♦ is poor too.

http://www.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands.php?traveller=3980-1353150001-46590839&username=mike777 This one was a bit conservative to pass rather than double and doesn't take into account GIB's attrociously restrictive overcall requirements. Of course the fact that no other GIB responded correctly to the double is just the terrible programming. The play was really your failing after winning with J♠ and easy spade return gets the contract one more down with any problem.

Is this one of the hands? http://www.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands.php?traveller=3980-1353150001-46590840&username=mike777 If so it obvious why so bad- you shouldn't have passed- clearly your bid is 1♥.
-
I agree with you Mike but a human North might double but that's too fine a judgement for a bridge computer program.
-
Bizarre that GIB doesn't put the king down so against its supposed programming.
-
What that Fred is a poor teacher and bad example chooser- he is desperate to give GIB a good name rather than fix GIB's bidding system to a high level of detail and cross-check the play to see its doing what its supposed - rather they slooping in ill-formed new conventions and fix a small number of the bugs.
-
You mean they should have programmed to exclude options ignored from bids made. Given they give that rediculous bid description of your proposed correction to 2♠ then you really have to pass that 2♥. GIB has what he promises or nearly but its still absurd.

[/hv]I'm sure that West had trouble simulating hands for South, but if South's small club were a small spade he'd still have 5 diamond tricks and 4 club tricks, so West should be perfectly happy to cash ♠A at Trick 5. Does not compute - I can't hold the ace of spades if South has 15 plus HCP.
-
A testiment to sheri's bad play- there is nothing to be gained by ruffing spades- need to setup diamonds.

cue with both majors after takeout double
cloa513 replied to Stephen Tu's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Absolutely agree with that assessment of how the cue-bid should be used. -
Why won't they just dump the Soloway Jump Bids- its too complicated to properly programme the number of sequences in- actually the normal 1D,-,1H could easily do the same if properly described.
-
You mean GIB doesn't know how to play bridge period- if only they make you declarer for all GIB games. The problem with the opener is its too strong for a non-vulnerable opening- another stupid opening bid.

12-15 HCP hand with long hearts sounds good. http://dcrcbridge.blogspot.jp/2007/04/3nt-opening.html

Yet another "second hand low" situation
cloa513 replied to Bbradley62's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Probably assumes they have the AD and JD which places East with the unusual underlead of Axxx clubs. -
Why didn't their opponents get disqualified?

Several bidding questions on slam hand
cloa513 replied to bd71's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Q1A Depends on your agreements with your partner- though I think partner should have just jumped to game with such good heart fit and nothing extra to say- though that JD might have been something to say. Q2. Not great- partner should be able to make other forward moving bid to indicate great shape and extra values- I'd say he has to be supporting hearts. -
13 tricks can be counted - why not bid 7NT?
cloa513 replied to ArtK78's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Of course its not RKC-I said it supposed show the K♣ but may not. -
No they are not there- it has 10 HCP+3 shortage points (that's in the system notes)+ 2 (length points- hand evaluation implied by GIB's bidding)= 15TP You could add a little for position but not much. Why can't East put in a 2♥ bid- does it need 14TP?
