  1. What does 1♣ mean for you- how many clubs 2/3/4? Is 1♠ showing 5 clubs,4 spades hand or just 4 spades with 3+ clubs? Anyway you should bid 3rd suit forcing- 2♥ not 3NT. Give partner 6 clubs, diamond void and AK hearts and Axxx spades and you have slam in clubs.
  2. I put out a long time ago that you should have the option to set a confirmation for your bid- say 3 seconds you can cancel if you made a mistake due to poor input device or just it go through. In some silly it'll slow everything hand waving, it was rejected it. Then Undoes are unnecessary.
  3. I'm not paying for your absymal GIBs- inherently poor as the system is poor. You provide the evidence- you're BBO.
  4. They say that but there hasn't ever been a true comparison between basic GIB and advanced GIB ever reported.
  5. That bidding descriptions leaves the result with so little information that is absolutely no way to get to close form the hands to do the analysis. Its worse than conventions.
  6. The bidding went 1NT(me),-,2C,-,2H,,4C,-4H,-,4S,... we went to good 6H slam I had a 1NT with 16 HCP and mostly key cards but wasteage in clubs and GIB actually had a good enough hand to push one more time.
  7. Originally bid unusual 2NT over 1H would be OK. If partner gives a good positive 3H which is clubs or the preference bid 3C then you can bid 3NT or 3D suggesting the hand that you have. Hand is a little too strong for a 1NT response- if partner has KQxx of clubs and at least 3 hearts or AK of hearts and preferably 3 diamonds then a good chance of making 3NT would be missed. The trouble with 2D overcall is it might be passed out with partner having the hand you need to make 3NT.
  8. He should have bid 6D instead of 4D which should mean lots of excellent diamonds (6 or more) and 4 good but not great spades- pick a slam.
  9. I have feeling this is the rollover bug I have been experienced many times- its not really those choice in the internal logic- its the display that is wrong.
  10. Did you realise that when GIB bids 2D over your (or partner's) 1NT, 3S shows Lebensohl 4+ hearts and 10 HCP? - Yeah I really want to play in 4-4 fit or in my case 5-3 with a "known" 5-0 break and likely bad break in the minors. It had its hand- why on Earth is this programmed in- can't it just defensively double.
  11. When from the lead of A, GIB partner drops the Q to give the only way to make the contract- the GIB declarer has 3 losers in that suit otherwise and one other. GIB is programmed to guarantee losing.
  12. Click on the tab that says Open Tables.
  13. Totally typical. If this due to programming- that programmer is the worst bridge player. And yet there are place where you'd think double should be "takeout" but its not like 1S,-,1NT,2C,-,X.
  14. The totally unreadable 25 page long thread- the problem was that the thread should have been book reviews only- discussions on the book reviews should be separate threads. We should work together to get the essential content into one thread.
  15. GIB is seriously pathetic in response to a takeout double of two level preempt, all opponents need to do raise to 3 and it won't act even with 5+of the other major and 8 HCP. Rediculous number of straight takeout double points but silly straight penalty bids like 1H,-,1NT,(2C/2D/2S),X- Double should be just strength since the 1 NT is so nebulous.
  16. Why not just have the news in a standard website format- not through the BBO client?
  17. Fast Reply discarded my reply. 2C,2NT,3C/3D, GIB bids his four card major/ 4/5 card minor with extras. (that's not in GIB system) 2C,2D, 3C/3D, GIB bids his 4/5 card major or non-rebiddable 6 card. 2C,2D,3C, 3D could be a gadget. Only start with 2C and rebid a long minor with serious extras/distribution.
  18. If you have a very strong hand easily 2♣ value and it contains a long minor and either a four card major or minor then you are stuck. Given the way GIB bids then you could be stuck in 1 of a minor if you open that, and if you bid the minor after either a 2D response to 2C or 2NT then there is no way to get the other suit in e.g. if GIB bids 2NT then he can't bid his four card major next. Sure over 2D, you might be able to just put in 3NT but I had 9 top tricks and Gib with values didn't continue.
  19. GIB is like a homing rocket for bad plays where there is a choice of a bad play and another other suit or card. Playing Video Bridge, I had one GIB pair play defence against 2♦ with a 4333 split in clubs and it gave my GIB partner the ruff-sluff- any other card would have got us down. Its always opening up useless suits with Axx vs xx. There's no way its following simulations unless its to find the worst play.
  20. Nothing to be lost by doubling then bidding 5♣- opponents will get in at the fourth level at most in interference. You bid 5♣- it might push out a 5♠ which you can't tell if it will even go down.
  21. GIB doesn't do that either he had three suits with Hxx and 1098x and which suit did he lead from Qxx- giving me one trick- its just random suit choice.
  22. I have some screenshots but since this forum doesn't support direct pasting or file links then I can't put it anywhere.
  23. With 12-14 and nothing specially opener should pass the 2S. 14 with shortage in spade maybe double.
