  1. Well, a year ago an international director allowed this at my table after 1NT - 2C, at our National Congress. The 2C bid was ruled unintended, changed to 2S. Another very experienced director in recent years has allowed my partner to change an unintended bid (I think 4H to 4S from memory, we had been bidding spades and the opposition hearts). I also have examples from workshops on Law 25 allowing changes with written bidding, such as changing a 4H opener to 4S.
  2. It was written bidding, sorry. So, what is the outcome ?
  3. Hi West - - - - - - East 2D (multi) - - - 2NT (enquiry) 3C (alerted) North now asks East about the auction and asks subsequent questions ... East now passes ! Q : Could the pass be ruled as unintended, given that East has alerted 3C and explained that it is showing a good weak-2 with hearts ? East has no reason to pass 3C and always intended to bid 3H. Thanks
  4. A better rule is the Rule of 22, including Quick Tricks.
  5. Agreed, like leads, low-spot promises an honour, high-spot top-of-nothing. Also, Low=Like, High=Hate is easy to remember. :D
  6. [hv=pc=n&s=s42hdc&w=sthdc6&n=scak&e=s65hdc]399|300|3NT by South, South on lead[/hv] 3NT by South, who has won 9 tricks and is on lead. South concedes the remaining two tricks. As we can see, West must win the spade and give a club to dummy. My question is, can dummy get involved ? Can dummy speak up and point out that there is another sure trick ? Does this situation constitute an irregularity because the defenders are not allowed to gain a trick that they cannot make ? I guess also, is it ethical for E/W to accept the concession ? thx
  7. We have a player at our club, whenever the defensive cards break 3-3 he says "Oh, you good people."

  9. wdp is kinda automatic, most hands. vwdp is for special occasions !
  10. It's also interesting how Russia has few great bridge players but of course loads of chess players, whereas Italy has few chess grandmasters over the years. Just a choice of direction by the available talent ?
  11. They also play netball and cricket and lawn bowls, which you won't see much of in South America.
  12. The Laws should say "The offender must call the Director."

  14. I am sad to hear that, he was one of the best commentators.
