  1. RHO opens 1C What do you bid? Why? [hv=d=e&v=n&s=skj109hq952daqcaj4]133|100|[/hv]
  2. Alternatively if you consider you can be at three tricks with invitational hands you can invite from the opener's side showing your shortness for instance after 2H 2NT = Invitation with 6H or 5H4xx and shortness in C 3C = Shortness in D 3D = Shortness in S You keep 2S as a Relay something along these lines ... If opener's interesting in your shortness with a fit he will bid game, in addition he can rectify the transfer with good hands to investigate further With this solution you get the best of both worlds
  3. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=sk62haj9d962caq76]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] You open 1C (You play 1NT 15-17) and LHO interferes with 1D after two passes it is your bid S W N E 1C 1D p p ?
  4. 1°) Partner with a 4 card fit can be mini or Maxi what is the impact on the sim? 2°) The key issue is the duplication of value in C in case of a fit you can have the info below 3H For instance : 1NT 2D 2S = 4H mini 2NT = 4H + anti-splinter in C (xxx or little wasted values) 3C = 4H + anti-splinter in D 3D = 4H + anti-splinter in S 3H = 4H Maxi So now in case of a super-fit you can analyze the true value of your singleton, the downside maybe that you are telling too much to the defense Worth the trouble or not ?
  5. I like to play it as a 65 or a Gambling diamond based (AKQ 6 or 7) because it fits well in my system It is followed by 3C relay then you show your shape: 3D = 5S6D 3H = 6D5C 3S = 5H6D 3NT = Gambling diamond based Note that you show your shape two-step under so that you can make a proposal at 3H on 3D
  6. Interesting ... I am experimenting with 2NT = 55 in the majors weak or strong instead of the overrated minors two-suiters may be 2NT is not high enough with this type of two suiters
  7. We used to play a "pure" gambling 3NT in 1st and 2nd. Solid 7, nothing outside. Do you include a 8 with AK in your definition of "pure" gambling or any other combination Some people seem to think that a gambling is only a 7 suit headed by AKQ Very restrictive in my views !
  8. The 3NT-Vernes opening is described as : - a 6+m suit (any quality) ; - no 4M - 13 to 15 "mixed" points (MP). Mixed points are calculated with the 4321 scale in the m-suit, and 321 scale (Ace=3) in the 3 other suits. The 7th card in your minor count as a full MP.
  9. If you do not like 3NT Gambit in standard what do you play?
  10. The CIA was interested in this matter because the Blue Team was suspected of having some Weapons of Mass Destruction in their Arsenal.
  11. The picture 1) Advantage/disadvantage What are the pros and cons of entering the auction with a 5-Card suit immediately? Destructive/constructive + occupying space + nuisance 2) Perception of the risk What is the expentancy of a fit when you interfere with 5 cards vs 6-card 3) Key factors worth considering when overcalling with a 5-card suit Strength (controls) + Shortness (any?) + Suit quality (is it?) + Pattern (5332?) Special treatment with the Heart suit? What do you think ? If you considering it is a no-no why ? Note : It seems to me that playing tranfers in the second seat would solve many issues here and bring leeway (misfit) and flexibility (constructive) What is your call?
  12. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=skxxhakjxdq10xcj9x]133|100|[/hv] What is your bid after RHO opens 1♣? Would you double with any 4333 14HCP and 4 hearts if RHO opens 1♠?
  13. You have : [hv=d=e&v=n&s=saq108h762daj1085c7]133|100|[/hv] RHO opens 1♥ what do you bid ? Does the type of scoring affect your decision ? Your opinion : ELC vs Standard (X + suit = Strong Hand)
  14. What is your style of overcalling when making a michael's Q-bid What about frequency?
  15. Just for your info the hand is extremely easy in the French standard system 2D 3C (Ace of club) 4C 4S (suit) 4NT (For K and Q) .... or 2D 2S (one Ace unspecified) 3C 3S 4D 4S 4NT (For K and Q)
