  1. Another thing about tournyes is that when only two tables play a board, it's usually scored in IMP. When many tables play a board, it's usually MP. Using that logic, MP makes a lot of sense for BBO. If the default weren't IMP, I bet most tables would be MP.
  2. If those are the Tourney stats then it seems that the default in BBO doesn't reflect the rest of the world. Because of the default, tables here are 95-98% IMP. I'm willing to bet it's all because of the default. Most just hit find me a seat or start a table and that gets them into IMPs without even making a conscious decision. I bet more people would like MP if they'd just try it. Still think there should be some way for the software to even up the default table mode a bit.
  3. The web client doesn't show what type of table a table is until you hit more. Kinda hard to find and MP table that way one only maybe one to three tables are playing MP at any one time.
  4. I think it's because of the default. Most people who use computers get the bare minimum to work and then just live with it. They'd don't bother to look for options to make things more interesting or different or better. I also bet most people just use the Find Me a Table option.
  5. Do the BridgeBase Online people monitor this board and ever comment on the suggestions???
  6. I gotta bring this up again. There's always 98% IMP in the Main Room. If you play MP for an hour, noone else has played the boards you've played. That sucks!!!! Something needs to be done to even out the MP vs IMP!!!!! B)
  7. One reason I asked this question is I played back on OKBridge back when it was very new (circa 1990) and most people didn't even know what an internet was. Back then, people said "SA" if they meant more-or-less Standard American as opposed to "Prec" or "ACOL", I sure wish people did that there now-a-days. Wikipedia very incorrectly states that Standard American and SAYC are more or less the same thing. Someone should go in and fix that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_American
  8. I see that the default for a new table is IMP. Maybe it would be a good idea to have the default alternate between IMP and MP.
  9. Yes, I can and do play SAYC like in the ACBL pamphlet. Maybe not as well as I'd like but that's the system I try to bid. I like it because it is a standard and therefore is good for pickup partners. On my profile, I list a few of the critical conventions after SAYC so people who haven't a clue about SAYC might have and I did that I play transfer, NegX, etc. When I played at a club, about 15 years ago), I played 2/1. I don't remember the details and couldn't play it well now. One thing I don't really understand is why people try to play lots of complicated conventions when they are going to play three ands with a pickup partner. I doubt you can get the details right. It's too bad the term "SAYC" as gotten watered down as it would be fine for advanced and intermediate players who are going to play pickup partners for three hands.
  10. It seems like 98% of the tables in the Main Room are IMPs. Is that the default and everyone just end up in IMPs rooms? In the Help Me Find a Game feature, what would be nice is if there were an option to select IMP or MP. That way, there'd be more MP games. Also, on list tables, it would be nice if you could show IMP only of Matchpoints only, or clickable column headings so you could sort on table type so you could easily find the matchpoint tables. I'd like to play more Matchpoint games but end up playing IMPsmost of the time as that's what everyone else is playing. -Ken
  11. I see many people have "SAYC" in their profile. Do they really mean SAYC? Seems not. Seems they mean SA as in Standard American but not SAYC. If you play SAYC, you should know you play Xfers and NegX -> 2S and stuff like that. Anyone else notice this? -ken
