If you play aggressive opening style, xyz should not be applied here. New minor forcing is the option for the passed hand.

I am just wondering how many of you play the concept of either "X or 4S". There should be no play for 4H since we all know 4S is a decent save if 4H is cold. If we consider 4H can not be made then X. Dilemma refers to after opp's 4H, how should we treat pd's pass and what action should be taken?

[hv=pc=n&w=st987h543da98ca73&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=pp1s2s(michael%20cuebid)]133|200|If North can bid 4♥ after your pass or 3X then auction goes 2 pass to you, another poll?[/hv] Probably the poll is not the most improtant issue. What I concern the most is the meaning of your action and why? 1) Is the 4H pass from East sort of forcing pass ?? 2) Is the meaning of X different according to the initial 3H or 3S call??
-
For most of us, X is an easy pick. We all expect pd to bid whatever 4 card major and make a game? There are probably around 15 points shared by West and North. Please analyze several possibility of pd's hand and expect the result according your choice.

[hv=pc=n&e=sa86hak75dk4ca753&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=3dp4d]133|200[/hv] Takeout X is up to 4H what's the call?? The reason for your call and the expectation for your partner's hand to support your decision. IMP or MP make any differences?

Nobody replys how to bid for the opener's hand so far. 4C would be my call to avoid the misunderstanding. This is one of the very few situation which cuebidding is not showing the support for partner's suit. The similar aluction like the following. [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1dp1h1s2sp]133|100|how to treat the meaning of 2S?[/hv] Fit in ♥ or asking for stopper in ♠?? Does the bidding system matter the meaning? (nature 1♦ vs precision 1♦)

thanks for the input. I have reviewed the BBF and found many issues are related with slam sequence. Most players tend to see one single bid as the key for the improper slam, However, your concept is very helpful for us to evaluate from the whole picture. This is to support my view that the key is to determine the strain if any side has the opportunity for it. After 3♥ I would choose a simple 4♥ in order to make clear the hand is min value of 2♣ opening.

I have corrected the post. very sorry.

cue bidding seems to be the way for majority to work toward the slam. However, I often found players tend to reach slam if there is no quick loser in the auction. However, the tricks for slam are just not enough. Justin: 4♠ after 3♠ is a tough consideration(deny club control?) since north is still unlimited. We might end up game even with hand like below. I guess two issues here: a) How to show the proper strength in the GF sequence.b) Who should take the lead to bid on slam? [hv=pc=n&n=sa2hakq64dakq4cqj]133|100[/hv]

[hv=pc=n&s=sqjt63h87dt76cat8&n=sa8haq642dakq42cq&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=2cp2dp2hp2sp3dp3hp3sp4cp4np5cp6hppp]266|200[/hv] The partnership is based on BWS but apply instant double negative method. therefore. 2♦ = GF but no good 5 card suit (2 of top 3), the min value is 1K/2Qs 2♥ = nature suit 2♠ = suit 3♦ = suit 3♥ = support or waiting? 2♠ should deny decent ♥ support.(common sense or need to be discussed?). The priority is to show support first rather than introduce your suit.(agreement for one level opening) 3♠ = cue or support? 4♣ = mandatory to cue if control. no extra strength required. 4 NT = 1430 6♥ certainly is a poor slam. We all know that there must be several factors to cause a bidding disaster happening. How many factors can you identify? or just a major one? The other table reach 4♠ which is also unmakeable so it'a push. However, I would like to know your opinion regarding this sequence. What is the best contract for this hand and how to get there? What's wrong with this losing control slam auction?
-
By the way, 2♦ then direct jump to 4♦ is key card for ♦ The skip of club control does create issue for north's slam consideration but south consider 2NT promised certain club strength. Shall North ignore the message of no ♣ control and still cue for spade or heart control, if yes, how should north proceed?

[hv=pc=n&s=st3ha7daqjt97cakt&n=sak987hk842d82c65&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1sp2dp2hp2np3np4dp5dppp]266|200[/hv] Play 2/1 unless suit rebid, 2H does not promise extra strength. 3D rebid is non-forcing for South so must bid 2NT to create GF sequence. Our cuebid is mandatory if slam try; 4NT for North is sign-off without fit. any suggestion for the auction? Who should take more responsibility?
-
Since north pass in the first round,2d response should be a fit showing and better describe call. I am very surprised 2s which is clearly underbid received many votes. 2H still keep the door open for 2S and show 10+ counts which should not be overbid for a passed hander.

[hv=pc=n&n=sat75h5dakjt83c82&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1dp1sp]133|200[/hv] Please select your call in the poll. welcome any opinion for your call. IMP The below is from SAYC for your reference. OPENER'S REBIDS: With a minimum hand opener may: Rebid NT at the cheapest level Raise responder's suit at the cheapest level. four-card support for a major suit is desirable, but not mandatory. Show a second suit, four cards or longer, lower ranking than the first. Rebid the original suit at the cheapest level possible. This is rarely done with less than 6 cards in the suit. With a medium opener (good 16 to 18 points), opener may: Jump raise partner's suit or jump rebid his own suit. Reverse in a new, higher-ranking suit (if the first suit is longer than the second) Show a new suit without reversing (note the wide range of 13-18 points for this action). With a maximum opener (19-21 points), opener will: Jump rebid in NT - - usually 18-19 points. Double-jump raise partner's suit. Double jump rebid his own suit. Jump shift into a second suit four cards or longer.

We don't think 4C is a forcing bid in most partnership. even face S xx H Axxx D KQxxx C Jx only 10 counts which should be the lowest requirement for this negative double. I guess 4H should be better call than X(which suggests strongly no suit to introduce).
