  1. Same here. The voice button never even appears on the ipad. I had them try in both the web and app version.
  2. The only luck factor not eliminated by Duplicate is which pairs you play which boards against. Playing in a 15 table section and only playing 6 of the 15 pairs means you skip 9 pairs turning this into an exercise of luck and impugns the integrity of the contest. To hand out masterpoints for this is a travesty and further devalues the currency. Fast pairs are even worse with 4 rounds of 3 boards.
  3. I think BBO does an amazing job, but that being said I can no longer logout. I click on logout and it simply expands whatever I was on whether it is friends, history, mail, keeps the tabs, which I can then select to visit those parts of the site. To logout now I must close the tab, at least I assume that action closes bbo completely. Is anyone else experiencing this?
  4. Am I the only one who is bothered by the refusal of many people to explain their bids or to say that they have no agreement? No agreement is a good rule in face to face bridge to avoid U.I. but I fail to see why this is an acceptable answer when the partner has no clue a question was asked let alone how you answered it. Simple example: My partner opens 1NT. I have no clue if we are playing transfers as we've not made an agreement. According the the ACBL online directors, "We have no agreement" is a perfectly acceptable answer, but how on earth can it hurt to tell any opponent who asks what you mean by the bid in addition to saying you have no agreement? Nothing is revealed to your partner, and there are no secrets being kept from opponents? How is it sporting to answer no agreement when you know exactly what you mean by your bid. Is it fair that because you and partner failed to make an agreement and have to guess, opponents should also be forced to guess what your bid means? So, I answer 2♦ and when opponent asks I am actually allowed to tell the opponent that we have no agreement. I do not have to tell him that I mean it as a transfer, forcing Stayman or natural. I know what I mean, but because I have to guess my opponent also must guess? Why is this acceptable? I alert my bids as we have no agreement, but I mean this bid to be.... I believe that there should be no secrets in bridge. So yes, you do not have to say what is in your hand, but isn't the opponent entitled to know if your suit is diamonds, hearts or neither? Telling your opponent online when it cannot alert your partner seems ethical and fair to me. Refusing to explain your bid based on the fact that you have no agreement seems scummy to me. Refusing to explain your bid because you think it is obvious seems so rude. So, why is this how it is done online? I used the example of a transfer auction to clearly illustrate why I think refusing to say what your bid means or answering that there is no agreement is spurious. The bidder knows what his bid means and should not keep that secret from the opponents. And yet, any secret can be kept as long as one responds, we have no agreement or I don't know. "I don't know" Really? The bidder doesn't know if he has diamonds or hearts or is asking for a four card major? Give me a break!
  5. Comments about Flash version follow: First of all thank you for all the time and effort you've put into the software and for the hours of enjoyment it has brought me. It seems ungrateful to make suggestions for improvement, but since it was solicited, I will offer my humble comments. 1) I hope the "old" version will not be retired and we will continue to have a choice which version we prefer when we play. 2)I love the option for private chats. But, if there is a chat room, where multiple people can chat, I was unable to find it. a) I love the "you hold, you bid" feature on the windows version. Very useful, would hate to give that up. 3)I love the find seats for a partnership option when joining a table. 4) I miss the table options of the windows version. or maybe i literally missed them as in unable to find them 2) playing robot tourneys the auto play singleton option comes in real handy. could not find it if it is there. 5) I really really dislike how results are displayed, with the hand squashed at the bottom of the window. I like the windows version and do not mind having to click on a tab to see it. 6) Teaching tables are important to me. They are great not only for teaching, but if you want to replay a hand, you can load it in a teaching table, sit in all 4 seats and see where you went wrong when you played/defended originally. That feature alone will keep me from switching to flash. 7) I was unable to find options for recording chat if they are there to be found. Turn it off, turn off some not other etc. 8) I know the common answer when someone comments about something new, is it's a matter of getting used to it. And I agree to a certain extent, but I find the flash version to be counter intuitive and once i finally find something, i have to repeat the search the next time i use it. 9) I was unable to open the new cc button so I don't know if that is easier or harder than the windows version. 10) I don't like the cards. Even the big ones are just too scrunched together. 11) Will we be able to make movies in the flash version? 12) Picky detail, I don't like the sounds, and cannot figure out how to change them. Thank you again. I appreciate this opportunity to comment. You guys have gotten so much right and have done a great job. Sarah
  6. I am in agreement with the "too bright" but only in context of played cards. The old version seems to play cards in a much more seamless fashion, while the flash version reminds me of a powerpoint presentation with emphasis added while the card is played. T I find that flash annoying for my eyes.
  7. i looked all over the flash site for teaching tables, how do you find them?
