  1. As of 12/19 I am getting a consistent alert from Windows 10 'Defender'. The alert states that the Trojan in the topic title is found on my desktop in: file: C:\Users\Richard M\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hpp14z7y.default\cache2\entries\8FADA02C54B22B20097E0FA17D546AD6C9215F The alert appears immediately after I go to this site and open a thread. The alert DOES NOT appear when I visit any of my usual news sites. Please advise. Thanks, Rich Morrison
  2. Hi Ken, My simple opinion is Pass and offer a sincere 'GLP'. This is a pile of quacks and plus 110 or 140 is the best I expect. Rich M
  3. barmar, Thanks for the reply and the screen prints. Couple of things; the color contrast in the web version (looks like 'cyan' and some kind of grey) is less distinct than the Win version, the 'Sit' text is why ? I don't understand the numbers, should I care ? This is not big stuff but it affects me after 30 minutes plus using the web version. Meanwhile: how about a 'service fee' for those who want to keep the Windows version ? I realize there is a cost to BBO for maintaining the Windows interface. I am willing to pay a reasonable price for this. Closing: BBO is a great service. As Joe Walsh said 'I can't complain but some times I still do' Rich Morrison
  4. Steven, You can speak for me :) You explained the layout very well. Rich Morrison
  5. Thanks bbstar and scarletv for the suggestions. I did not explain my problem very well. Screen size and resolution is not a problem. The problem is the 'density' of symbols in the open tables display; the 'Sit' and other stuff in the tables list. Just look at the Windows table list (if you can :D ) and you will see the difference. 6. Hi barmar, This post is late in the thread but I want to mention 3 things. 1) I understand the reasons for discontinuing support of the Windows interface. Makes sense to me. 2) I have tried the web version and it is a problem for me. My eyesight is not so good and it is hard to see and use the 'open tables' in the main bridge club. 3) I am willing to pay a service, or whatever, to continue using the Windows version. Make sense ? Thanks, Rich Morrison
  7. Sally, Yup, it's a jungle out there. The response from TimG is correct I think. You either have to make a list of 'friends' on BBO or take your chances in the Main Bridge Club. When I drop in the Main Bridge Club, I look at pard's profile first. If no information, or no system profile, or pard is -50 IMPS, I leave. Good luck.
  8. The problem with such thinking is that in modern bridge there will often be no chance for "then" or "then" will have to come at 4 level which you don't want. The most important thing to show is 4♥ before they jump to 3♠/4♠. Disagree. If they jump to 3S you can bid 4H next. If they are going to jump to 4S regardless of what you do, don't you think that showing diamonds is more important than showing hearts? Aside from that, bidding 2D comes with a bonus - it has a higher minimum strength requirement than DBL. Fred Gitelman Bridge Base Inc. www.bridgebase.com Fred, Side question: if the auction goes like this 1♣ - (1♠) - 2♦ - (4♠) P - (P) - 4NT does 4NT probably show Hearts ? I think it should. RichM
  9. First choice; very strong and balanced, like the old Baron 2NT. Good for slam bidding and limits other sequences. Second choice; mystery mini splinter. RichM
  10. a ) Dunno. Bidding 4♥ is left-hand Jacoby. It will usually transfer them into 4♠. Does 4♥ suggest a 5-level save at equal vulnerability ? Is this the right hand ? Think I will Pass over 3♠ b ) Pass. Like Kevin said. RichM
  11. Yes definitely. Yes Yes What's your point? Not cooperating with slam is different from bidding a grand. On the second hand you gave you are missing a keycard, there are methods to find out. On the OP's hand partner has the club king, your first example does not. Again, you can find out about this by starting with blackwood. See title of post for "the point"
  12. Is East really to blame ? Would West also rebid 4♦ with ♠ AKxx ♥ AKxx ♦ x ♣ AJxx or ♠ Axxx ♥ AKxx ♦ x ♣ AKJx And would East want to bid a grand facing these hands ?
  13. That loses to KJx on the left, KJxx on the left, or singleton K in either hand. It only gains over the spade finesse when RHO has 2065/2056 with ♠Kx. Right. I need to clean my glasses before I look at play problems. Thought South had the Spade J. RichM
