  1. Perhaps you meant to say 3♣+1 though, in which case I agree with your ruling (and understand what the AC were thinking, but their ruling is an (illegal) Reveley ruling). Yes. Sorry. I ment 3♣+1
  2. I decided to adjust to 4♣ making. The AC adjusted to 2/3 of 3♠+1 and 1/3 of 4♣=.
  3. I was called after W bided 3♠. I've asked around some players at the same level as North what would they do and 4 out of 5 said they would pass 3♣ now but they would have opened 3♠.
  4. I am sure North wouldn't risk a big penalty just hoping E has 4-4 in minors and he can call the director afterwards. He knew EW are good players and that they know what they are playing (they said they've forgot to change their CC).
  5. At a regional tournament (2 rounds, MP scoring) NS are beginners; EW are experienced players [hv=d=n&v=n&n=sakq9762h109d1098c9&w=s1085hj82dk542ca42&e=s3ha3dqj63ckqj1087&s=sj4hkq7654da7c653]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] N E S W 2♠ 3♣ P* P 3♠ PASS GENERAL South hesitates before passing 3♣ (he agrees with this break of tempo). EW claim N can’t bid 3♠ after just opening 2♠ (he can’t be sure they don’t make 5♣) and he did it because he knew his partner has something but couldn’t bid anything. What do you do?
  6. Hello, Directing a regional tournament I was called at a table for the following problem. Both pairs are experienced players. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sk9862h4dj8643c104&e=sqj75h8dak102cak62]266|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] N E S W 1♣ 1♥ P P DBL P P 1♠ DBL P P 2♦ DBL 2♠ P P DBL PASS GENERAL Before bidding 2d North asks how they open 1 minor; the answers is “with 3-3 we always open 1cl with 4-4, 1dia”. He claims he wouldn’t bid 2d if he knew they play “best minor”. He knew hearts and spades are not breaking and he wanted to play a 5-2+ dia fit (the odds to find a diamond fit are better when E is denying 4 cards -> now he can have 4 diamonds only if his distribution is 4045). In their CC they have “best minor” written; EW both say that they’ve discussed to open 1c with 3-3 and 1d with 44 but forgot to change in their CC. The table result: 2!sx -1. Your decision?
  7. Sorry for not giving all the facts. The lead was made by the correct defender. The declarer left the table after he examined the dummy; he was mad he was passed in what he thought it was a cuebid and didn't want to play that contract. Local in Romania.
  8. Hi guys, I was directing a local tournament (with prizes, 17 tables, match points) when this situation came up: On the last board, after the bidding ended and the initial lead was made, the declarer put his cards face up, told his partner "you play this contract", got up and left. What should the TD do and what laws do you apply? Thank u
  9. Hi guys, During the European Junior Teams Championship I called the director for the following bidding: N S 2D* 4H** all pass 2D was alerted as 5+major with 6-9 HCP; 4H was bided after a break in tempo and was alerted on my part of screen as "to play" and "not sure what it is" on the other side. Their CC stated that 4H was P/C. This was passed around; N had 6 spades and heart singleton. I called the TD at the end of the board who decided that nothing can be changed since my p failed to call him (he was on the other side of the hesitation); even though both N and S agreed with the break in tempo. How can this be right?
  10. Hello all, My first reply on this forum so pls be kind :) Let's say we have at some point the sequence x1111y (where x /y are 2 or 3). There are 3 possibilities (trying to find the former sequence which let to x1111y) 1. x1 followed by 11 followed by 1y (where x=2 and y=3). In this case the former sequence was 1113, but this would be interpreted as 3113 so this can't be the case. -> same if x=3 and y=2 2. 11 followed by 11. In this case the previous sequence was 1111 but this would turn into 41, not 1111 :) 3. 111 followed by 1y or x1 followed by 111. In this case the previous sequence was 1111111111 (11 times). But this means that at the previous step we had 1 milliard 1 and if we go backwards the number of 1 would rise when the lenght of the series should be smaller. So.. the initial presupposition is wrong and we can't have x1111y in our series. Sorry.. we don't get a 4
