  1. [hv=pc=n&e=st873hqtdaq76ckj6&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=1dp1hp1sp2n]133|200[/hv] What does West's 2NT bid mean, in terms of HCP, in SAYC? Thank you.
  2. Are bridge signals different for trump contracts versus for NT contracts? Thank you.
  3. I'd like to ask other bridge players what they think North's next bid should be. (Yes, it's a weak open but it's not relevant to the question, ty.) [hv=pc=n&n=skjha72dt942ca654&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p1dp1h1sp2s3cp]133|200[/hv] onean-k
  4. Is the 2NT in this bidding sequence [2♣ - 2♦ - 2NT] always treated the same as a 2NT open. So if responder answers 3♣ it's staymen?
  5. OK. (Thank you very much for taking the time on this small question.) For me the 1♠ bid is forcing South to bid. Always. For my South partner, it wasn't. He/she passed. I've made this bid many times and nobody ever passed. (Both playing SAYC.) [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1dp1hp1s]133|100[/hv]
  6. So I KNOW my partner has slam values in SAYC bidding which doesn't really cover this bidding at all. I'd like to know how you know East has Slam values (East is the one who knows, not me) and based one WHAT you call my pass of 3nt "clueless?" This is so typical -- A: You're clueless, partner. B: So the right bid is what, partner? A: Ah ,,, I don't know, partner.
  7. [hv=pc=n&w=skq7hajdaj6cakjt9&e=saj93hqt86dkt4cq8&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=2cdrpp2d2sp3cp3nppp]266|200[/hv] My partner said, "Why Pass?" Sayc tourney and first time partner. Am I supposed to know we have slam and therefore keep bidding?
  8. [hv=pc=n&s=sak875ha876dq6c87&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1sp]133|200[/hv] What is the right bid for south to make here? Thank you.
  9. The bid did in fact keep our opps out of a make-able 3NT contract. And we made some points on the scorecard consequently. Though I'm, based on the responses, still not sure my bid was proper. I try always to play properly at the bridge table so I'll try to have "at least one honor" from now on in my six card suit. I kinda think the suggestion that a "1S bid was better" was the right bid.
  10. [hv=pc=n&n=st97543htdaq3cqj3&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1d2s]133|200[/hv] I liked my 2S bid as opener's LHO. Opener told me it was "out of order." I admit my spades weren't THAT great, but I liked it as a defensive bid and if my p can find a fit, who knows. Was I, playing sayc, making an inappropriate bid?
  11. [hv=pc=n&n=sj987hkq72dt5ck87&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1n3d]133|200[/hv] What should North bid? Thank you very much.
  12. Opener bids 1NT. Opoener's LHO bids 2D. Does "double" by responder equal staymen or transfer to hearts? Thank you.
  13. [hv=pc=n&n=sa654hqdkjcakj754&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=pp1c3dd3h]133|200[/hv] What is the right bid for North to make here? Thank you very much.
  14. I double checked bridge guys, and you may be right, stephen tu. My bad on that point, I guess. Well, I will strive to play neg. doubles that way now.
  15. My neg. dbl is showing "a" four card major. "The Bridge Guys," (a pretty reliable source, I think) specifically says a "negative double" does not mean 44 in majors. It states that one four card major is 100% OK for my neg. dbl after my opp's one diamond. Larry Cohen, though, says that it DOES mean 44 in majors. Obviously I like the "free bid" style of showing one major. (It was a BBO tourney and no agreement, of course.) My thinking was: "My partner answered with his 4 card Heart suit so, easily at the "1 level," I showed my 4 card Spade suit because my partner could also have a 4 card spade suit." Question: If one plays with the idea that a negative double equals 44 in majors, then what should I bid and instead of "double" after opps 1♦? How can we find a major fit? If there were one there?
  16. I think North's, me, 1♠ bid is forcing. My partner, south, said it wasn't. Who is right? [hv=pc=n&s=sqt2hqt75dq9ckqj6&n=skj65hj2dk2cat972&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=p1c1ddp1hp1sp]266|200[/hv] Thanks very much.
  17. [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1d1sp2cp]133|100[/hv] Is West's bid forcing or not forcing? Thank you very much.
  18. [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1c3ddp]133|100[/hv] With Negative Double on my CC, is this double at the 3 level considered a negative double? Thank you very much.
  19. [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1sp2hp4np]133|100[/hv] Maybe this is a dumb question, but it's happened over and over to me. I'm playing my p's card and his/her card is 03/14. And ... so ... which suit do I respond to regarding the king trump and 4 aces?" Spades or Hearts?
  20. Is the 2♦ bid 1) forcing 2) non forcing 3) forcing or non forcing decided by partnership? [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1hp1sp1np2d]133|100[/hv]
  21. This is 100% the correct answer. Bridge NEEDS to have maximum ethics — like golf.
  22. ♣♦♥♠ Although, I'm interested in what other players would bid sitting East, I'm MUCH MORE INTERESTED in knowing exactly the god of SAYC says I'm supposed to bid here. [hv=pc=n&e=sa963h962da632c86&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1c2s]133|200[/hv] Thank you for you kind help. ♣♦♥♠
  23. ♣♦♥♠ Hi. My question is this: What does South's DBL after East's 1NT bid mean? (Asking North to bid or penalty DBL?) [hv=d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1cdp1ndp]133|100[/hv] ♣♦♥♠
  24. We are playing SAYC. Is or is not North's 2♦ bid forcing? [hv=pc=n&s=sj986htdqt83cqj72&n=sa4haj973dkj9764c&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=p1hp1sp2dppp]266|200[/hv] Thanks very much for answering this question. ♣♦♥♠
