  1. 12 straight draws sucks in any kind of competition. The rules need to be changed to greatly lessen the chances of a draw. Players are now allowed 2.5 minutes per move for the first 60 moves. Make it 2.0 minutes per move and see what happens.
  2. Thank you for ther information, I have been using Chrome, but will try Bing. I should say, though, that toggling tabs while using Chrome has never been a problem, even with the ancient system I had before, and I do a lot of toggling.
  3. This problem is getting worse, and I request a reply. FYI I have a new PC with all the upgrades available, according to my geek. Also, I have not expeienced any lockup at any olf the dozens os site I visit daily.
  4. In OP I suggested that server load should not be an issue. I was speaking out of my depth, and it was not my business, and I should not have said anything about it. But if you are not affiliated with BBO either then I am not sure you are in a better position to broach the issue. I have NOT said anything about getting rid of anything. And as for the numbers registering I would like to know a lot more. If this Just Declare item is more popular than what it replaced, then naturally it deserves priority. But if it is just "as popular" then I don't see why it should be preferred.
  5. It would be real bridge if the three GIBs and the one human all got randomly dealt cards, with no "best hand" favoritism for the human.
  6. But only declarer skills. Not with 2/3 of the skill categories (bidding and defense) completely left out, it isn't! I can't speak for anyone else, but for me they are for the joy of experiencing one of the greatest mental challenges ever invented. So much the better that I don't have to be a very good player! I can't speak for anyone else, but I would play as much as ever if BBO MPs were abolished.
  7. Thanks for providing the details. I have been so wrapped up with pay-to-play that I lost touch, and now that I want to play a few more freebies (but little if any less pfp) it is disappointing to see the opportunities reduced.
  8. Listen, Smiley, I pay to play 300+ days a year. You?
  9. This is a reasonable point to make, and I would prefer a non-preferential system where all players have equal chances concerning hand qulaity However, the bidding and play exactly resemble "real bridge". I think the correct way to express it is that the human player is compared to dozens of other humans' results, but that hundreds of other humans play different cards. I wonder if there are technical reasons for not having an entire field of hundreds thousands play the same cards. I can't imagine any other reason not to do so. Skip the speechifying. I thought my opportunities had been reduced.
  10. GIB bugs should be the subject of another thread, but as I said, fine, let those who enjoy Just Bid have the opportunity to do so. Again, though, my question is why should my own opportunity to play GIB real bridge with a real auction be taken way?
  11. I play my share of for-pay tournaments, but I enjoy a few freebies too, but not this ersatz "Just Declare" nonsense. If other people want to play silly fake bridge, OK, but how about restoring the free tournaments of real bridge that got butted off the list? Surely there is room for them.
  12. This has become a daily problem: BBO freezes and no way to unfreeze except close and log in again, after which session in progress is completely lost. I have a new system and I have had zero problems elsewhere since upgrade. Please fix! TY
  13. There is a pretty big difference difference between them if they cannot mate and produce fertile offspring. You would have done better to have posted pictures of six different breeds of dog.
  14. Although immigrants have certainly contributed much to the US Steve Jobs was not one; it was his father who was an immigrant, from Syria.
  15. Listen, I don't like it any more than you, and I do not own a gun, but there are more guns than there are people, so gun control is impossible. It will never happen.
  16. The President of Iceland is absolutely right, and he should follow up by imposing hefty fines and long prison sentences on violators. However, OP also deserves a fine and prison for leaving out the number*****one pizza ingredient if all time, which is: PEPPERONI How anyone could leave f*****g PEPPERRONI off the list of pizza toppings is beyond comprehension. Get real, Dude.
  17. WARNING Linked site highlighted in quotation above contains malware. Clicking on site option to view list of 50 Muslim countries opens inescapable full screen page necessitating unplugging desktop PC from wall socket. At least it did with me.
  18. A constitutional crisis exists when the government defies a court order, as our border and customs security agencies have. What worries me is that Trump and his corps of baboons will try to invoke ex part Merryman as a precedent for saying they can do anything they damn please. Merryman was a 1861 case where Lincoln is generally considered to have defied an order from Chief Justice Roger Taney forbidding emergency suspention of habeas corpus. Now, Trump is not facing anything like the crisis Lincoln faced, but Trump and his baboons are the kind of people who might think nothing of provoking the kind of crisis Lincoln faced.
  19. Thank you for the information. Staff here has always been 100% civil and courteous, and I apologize to administration for thinking any of them might be otherwise.
  20. Has anyone here tipped their hat to the threadstarer? I thought he was full of it, and I paid no attention to this thread, which I thought was stupid. It was me who was stupid. God was I ever wrong, God was Winston ever right, and my hat is off to him for his great prescience. Well done Man. The USA now has a real baboon for a president, who is surrounding himself mostly (completely?) with junior baboons, having been voted in by 62,985,105 baby baboons. The country will be lucky to escape this administration by baboon without a major calamity. Bismarck is supposed to have said something like: God takes care of fools, drunks, and the United States of America. God please help us now.
  21. Can't anyone provide some empirical suggestions, such as identifying the ages of the youngest people who have ever reached a certain Master Point level, or to have played in a major national competition? There should be reams of data out there. Some time ago I was interested in the youngest Bermuda Bowl winners ever, and tried to look them up. The top three are, I think: Michael Klukowsky, age 19, champ in 2015 Bobby Levin, age 23, champ in 1981 Agustin Madala, age 27, champ in 2013 Mandala finished 2nd in the South American Open Pairs at age 12- certainly a prodigious result. (He has a multinational background, having competed for both Argentina and Italy)
  22. I think it would be appropriate to retract this, since although the denunciations were public, the cheaters' real names remain private. I should be fair even to weasels like this Ijacksomethingoranother guy and retract my criticsm above.
  23. Thanks for being so swell about it. FYI I have made >10,000 posts aggregate at several internet boards, all with different rules, none of which I could pass a test on after my usual one initial cursory scan. Some boards are tight about privacy, some are wide open. IMO cheaters (playing to lose is as much cheating as anything), such as the two I named, do not deserve the same privacy rights as non-cheaters, but I guess that is a topic for another thread. I admit, though, I ought to have considered the risk of retaliatory behavior arising from public denunciation. Now how about you admitting you should have pointed this out to me. BTW I perused the two cheaters' full January results and counted 13 episodes of flagrant cheating between them. I will follow up with a report via PM to BBO authority. The fact is, you weasel, I did not realize the site was not continuously updated in accordance with its FAQ. Try not to be so dense. My obvious, only purpose in bringing up the skill ratings was to ridicule the two cheaters. If you had any grasp of the ridiculous you would be saving your ammunition for the cheaters, rather than for the people who are trying to help you put the cheaters out of business.
  24. I stand prevented. Alas. What the hell are you talking about? You think pricks like them could ever improve? Don't be ridiculous.
  25. Will do. Thanks. I may volunteer to research their archives and pass any info of interest on to you.
