  1. I am extremely disappointed that the Windows version of BBO will be retired on Feb 1st. I much prefer the Windows version because the graphics are so much superior to the graphics of the browser version.
  2. My wife BaldFriede and I are both vugraph commentators. However, when we offer our services on the new website we get the following error message: Something went wrong! Internal server error The page you are trying to access cannot be opened because of server configuration problems. Are you trying to get online and play bridge? Go to www.bridgebase.com and click Play Bridge Now. If that is not what you are looking for, tell us what you were trying to do, and we will do our best to help you. Here is how you can contact us: Naturally we always assumed signing up for commentation had not worked. I just found out that it works nevertheless, despite the error message. So I apologize for not showing up at events I was supposed to commentate, though I don't think the blame lies with me. Maybe something can be done about that error message.
  3. It appears the error was caused by our antivirus software; other programs had the same error. Since the latest update of that antivirus software the problem has disappeared.
  4. There are several; I will give the description of the first that occurs; it happens immediately after logging in. An error has occurred in the script on this page Line: 1 Char: 1 'jQuery' is undefined. URL: http://ads.bridgebase.com/activity-feed-portal/js/AddActivity.js? epversion=17497 For some reason the full URL is shortened in the post; just click on it to see it. The other errors appear to be the same; it seems it occurs several times
  5. That was the first thing I did. It did not change anything.
  6. I usually use the downloadable version of BBO. As of today script errors appear repeatedly when using it. This has never happened before.
  7. There is a problem that occasionally occurs when I am away from keyboard for an extended time. I receive a message from someone and have no idea when this message has been sent. It would be quite useful to be able to switch on a "time stamps" feature for messages, so one would know when the message was sent. These time stamps should best be in the receiver's local time. For those users who don't show location in their profiles it could be in a chosen standard time (GMT for example). This useful feature should not be too difficult to implement, I think. ;)
  8. Looks like a good idea I think. But take care - Vugraph operator still needs to enter the names - else there is no link to the personal info. There is also the ordinary problem about spelling names. I think the way will be to ask organizers to submit the names corresponding to exact match in WBF database. Operators don't start completely unprepared (they shouldn't at least ;) ). All an operator would need is the name under which the player is stored within in the internal BBO Database. Or perhaps not even that. He or she could enter the real name of the player, and the database would make the connection itself.
  9. This could be automized in the software, so the vugraph operator would not need extra time for it. All one has to do then is to make sure that players have standardized names for vugraph transmissions (that for example a player like Daniela von Arnim is always refered to as "DArnim" and not as "DArnim" once and "DvArnim" at another time).
  10. At the moment moving the cursor over the name of a player in a vugraph event usually gives no information at all (unless the vugraph operator enters some). I suggest to connect an online database (how about the one of the World Bridge Federation WBF Homepage ?) with these names. The vugraph operator would then have to make a connection between the player's name used for the vugraph transmission and his/her database entry.
  11. It all depends on the agreement you have with your partner. With hands like this one my partner and I have an agreement for low-level cuebids. I would reply 2nt showing A♠. If my partner replies with 3♣ or 3♦ (preferably 3♦) I can risk going to 4, if not, sorry, no full game here. Of course this approach is out for people who play 2nt as extra strength.
  12. There is a new bug in version 3.7.0. When you are playing or kibitzing at a table, the "Tables", "Lobby" and "Tourneys" buttons no longer work (or rather only work half. You see the top row, and you see a strange shade following the trace of the last card that has been played)
  13. Hmm, where is the problem? 2NT-3C-3H-4C-4S-5D-5NT-6C-6H. Of course you have to open 2NT with 5 card major and 19-21, as we do.
  14. To open with 2 nt one should have only 1 weak suit at the most. Your hearts were very weak, and your spades could not be considered strong either, but you had 16 hcp in diamonds and clubs. Too lopsided for 2nt opener.
