Can find the Bridgemaster Deal I purchased online
BunnyGo replied to P_Marlowe's topic in BBO Support Forum
This only works on the downloaded client, right? -
Also called 'Clocking'

As Dave Harty said to me earlier today, "stop trying to have subtle slam auctions with GIB."

Sorry, don't know anything about helicopter rides. Just wanted to echo wyman in saying the canyon was amazing, and if you have the time for a multi day trip there, it's definitely worth it. I did a hike from the south ridge to horseshoe mesa down the old copper mine trail. Was just great.

is 5 to the 9 enough?
BunnyGo replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
9 pts, entries, 5 card suit...double. -
All the above suggestions sound reasonable and from people more knowledgeable than I about long matches. I've heard that adderall can also help stay focused when tired and distracted.

How to help partner
BunnyGo replied to BunnyGo's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
to Art (and future readers), the question is what to do from my POV. Partner could have nothing more than the spade king and the two jacks he has. We need to take our 7 tricks ASAP (potentially) so that we set the contract. If I lead a low spade to partner's King, it's likely partner will continue the suit to "knock out declarer's ace" while hoping I have 3 tricks outside spades before declarer gets 7 tricks. if I lead the A, partner is likely to think this is asking for an unblock (as was the case). Is my only hope that partner has Kx of spades? How do I help partner find the winning defense to our 7 tricks? And yes, on this particular hand, we couldn't go wrong. -
So in this hand, you "know" how the defense is getting 7 tricks at trick 1, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to help partner figure it out. I wanted to lead a second spade so that wyman could put a diamond through, but I knew it'd look like I just wanted him to lead another spade to clear the suit. If Noodle had 16 HCP, then I wasn't sure I could count on wyman to have enough to stop them from taking 7 tricks after we took our spades. Is there anything to do from this defensive position (besides overcalling spades)? I'm having this identical problem now, but with fast internet (two different locations, same laptop--the one I always use). I've tried restarting and forcing to port 80. It sometimes blinks the "loading bar" at me, but in general I just see the advert banner and a blank white screen. Any suggestions?

these computer dealt hands!
BunnyGo replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Why doesn't he just keep 4 clubs, and Hx of diamonds, and LHO keep Hxx of diamonds? I think the squeeze needs an opponent to have 4 clubs and QJ of diamonds...but it's late here, so I could be equally sleepy. -
2S > 3H > 2H >>> anything else I can think of.
-
Yeech. If the consensus is that we should be competing with this, then I have to give a long hard think to how I evaluate these decisions. I always pass unless swinging hard. Maybe at Rubber bridge nonvul vs vul when they have 60 on I bid. I dunno.

venting!!! (at a tourney adjustment)

Nice 1♠ bid, you get points for creativity. Luckily this was just for fun. -

Well....East may have another heart as his 6th card? -
MP competitive decision - 2
BunnyGo replied to Antrax's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Jilly--Yes, I can see the diagram. I do not double. 4 Hearts, vulnerable seems like enough to me. Partner should pass, you could easily have a strong hand with diamonds instead of this weaker shapely hand. -
If the K shows up the first trick, I take it, and play on hearts then. This gives me a good chance of 2 diamond tricks.
-
I think passing on the second one is fine. But there was just a thread about a hand similar to this.
-
I duck in dummy, and unless the K or Q shows up, I duck in hand too. I'm going to win the A on the second diamond trick (assuming they continue, but the spots matter too in this decision--I'm assuming the leader has 5 diamonds if I don't see the 2). I'll immediately take the heart finesse. After this, it gets hard to say, and I may play differently depending on what happens until this point.
-
Pass. I don't think it's close unless you play X is penalty (I'd still pass, but I don't hate making a penalty double here). I have 3 (maybe) sure tricks, and if partner has Jxx of hearts, then that could easily be a trick (if declarer has AKT9xxxx or misguesses the finesse) or a trick in diamonds or clubs--he doesn't need much. It's nearly certain that we can't make anything, but the sacrifice could easily be a phantom one. If partner balances here with a double...then I'd probably bid 4S, but could likely be convinced that passing is correct.

Matchpoint Precision
BunnyGo replied to BunnyGo's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
At the table (when it was only 1 heart) my partner decided to pass. I was kind enough to provide: Qx, T876, Jxx , Kxxx for a top board. Was curious about the decision to pass. It seemed reasonable, but I wasn't sure what others would do.
