  1. Double promises max passed hand as well 4+♣4+♠ suits. It's not fully shown here. As North came up with ♠A and ♣J, it was very likely for South to have ♣K and ♥Q. It looks cold now, but if you ignore alerts. It might be unlikely to get most of the points at the other place where you would expect.
  2. 4♠ is limited 12-14TP. 3♠ left auction open so can't be set upper limit.
  3. I admit I didn't look at the names as much as the hand itself. More likely because the name is not so relevant to what happened. What i've tried was to replicate the situation. Anyway it looks solved for the web version and robotized tourneys.
  4. The explanation of 4NT was incorrect indeed (It didn't track the previous promised information). Will be investigated for fix.
  5. Did you played this hand using downloadable version GIB? At least it looks like this. The web version or tourney robot version doesn't consider 4NT and bids 6NT showing 9-13HCP. 2♠ wouldn't bother the decision.
  6. Thank you for reporting. It's a bug. But it's fixed in the next update which is about to come soon. It's regarding 3♦. In the particular case, West will rebid 2NT showing balanced hand, instead of introducing fake suit.
  7. Why playing J from KJ you play for 25%? Isn't same to play for Queen in West same percentage like playing for Ace? Not that easy to guess in such tenaces combinations. J wins for Q/AQ in west, K wins only when A in west. No matter which card loses with AQ in East.
  8. 9. The real meaning of 3♥ is :Invite -- 3-4 ♥; 9-11 HCP; 12- total points As Michaels showing 5+5+ in majors, supposedly over invite with 3-4 cards this doubled seemed to be T/O for North. GIB could simulate whether to pass on 3♦ or "lie" a bit with 1 length in hearts. Supposedly partner is passed hand, probably simulation showed partner won't accept and will stop on 3♥. Both contracts seems to be 5+/2 5+/2 but. For most of the cases GIB would pass on 3♦, but just in few cases could bid 3♥. However, especially having Kxx in hearts, the double looked even more like T/O. So North moved to 4♣
  10. Thanks for reporting. It was a bug, where the explanation was wrongly put there. Corrected in the next update. The meaning for the particular hand would be here 2♦ - -- 5+ ♦; 10+ HCP; 16- total points
  11. 4NT - !Three suit takeout -- 4+ ♣; 4+ ♦; 4+ ♥; 17+ total points Double - 8+ TP Despite it has huge fit in hearts, the vulnerability looked better to defend for -1/-2 instead of bid 7♥ for -1/-2.
  12. What i mean was 1♣ - 2♣ promises 4+ ♣; 3- ♥; 3- ♠; 10+ HCP; forcing to 2N. Then your 3♦ rebid over partner's something will show GF values. Something like: 1♣ - 2♣ 2NT - 3♦ If opponent intervenes at some point bidding 2♥/3♥ you can just bid 2♠/3♠ showing your stopper in spades and then no need to mention ♦'s. Then your partner seeing his ♥'s stopper could bid 3NT. If opponents don't overcall you could bid 1♠/2♥ over partner 1♥/1♠ as 4SF, but if they do then rebid problem looks like already happened. No best solution for sure whatever you bid anyway, i'm just telling my suggestion for minorish hand with more then simply 3NT values. Guessing opps ( whoever is on lead ) won't lead his or partner's suit just because contract is NT, might be risky.
  13. It was fixed to prevent GIB going up after 6NT in cases 6NT is assigned as contract after cuebidless questioning from 4NT. Supposedly 4NT bidder would inquire Aces and Kings/(Queen of trump). Then it wasn't predicted a case that it will be issued new cuebid call instead of deciding contract somehow. In general it wasn't predicted a case when you will be asking in suit X but it will be claim contract in suit Y. It would be hard to be distinguished in various of situations which is will and which might lead to "whoops" effect. GIB would definitely pass on 6NT followed the 5♥ reply or 5NT-some answer-6NT. It could be added such case of course, but here the desire was different i guess. Player just wished 6♥ to be final contract. Wasn't issued as real cuebid. Likely the better sequence continuation instead of 4NT would be 2♣ as 4SF. Then could bid ♥'s again making them your only one promised suit(6+ for sure). If you lucky to get fit, then 4NT would let you play on NT or your suit whatever you like. If not seen 2+ cards in hearts, then what's wrong with 6NT if Responder is keen to reach slam. AKJxxxx is not so standalone suit resisting on singleton/void. Partner hasn't promised even a card in hearts so far neither NT shape.
  14. For GIB 2NT would be invite for 3NT. With this hand probably would be easier to bid 1♣-2♣ and then do reverse with diamonds, stronger hand and will avoid the need of cuebidding opps call.
  15. Pulling trumps is part of the plan of play i think. Considering let's pull trumps first might be already the first step to make contract down definitely. Every suit contract might have specific need of which plan to pick like extending trumps by ruffing with short trump hand, cross-ruff, reverse dummy, endplay the winning trump, etc etc etc. For a particular hand GIB might or certainly went wrong if picked unsuccessful plan and being ruffed/overruffed in suit where it held 4-2 and opps 6-1, took unneeded finesse for +1 putting the contract in jeopardy, which every kibitzer would avoid. Pulling trumps as default strategy sounds like if GIB is declarer of NT and first task to do is to pull all available top honors tricks. If then is capable to make the contract - good, if not - well, next time better. Clicking GIB button on hand diagram which shows any lead makes contract = or +1 and then declarer (GIB) went down is not alert for bug in GIB software. GIB button activates the Double Dummy computation of the hand layout, and GIB declarer is allowed to simulate and imagine the opps hands layout, but not to "peek" at them. So depend on the point of view it's the worst declarer as making cold contract down while its human partner would make even +1, next time is the opposite.
  16. At the moment the difference between both is the probably occurrence of 5th major. 3NT directly - Strong hand -- 2-5 C; 2-5 D; 2-4 H; 2-4 S; 25-27 HCP 2♣-2♦,3NT - -- 2-5 C; 2-5 D; 2-5 H; 2-5 S; 25-27 HCP
  17. Currently for GIB the 4♣/♦ here won't be a cuebid. 4♦ means - Help-suit slam try -- 3+ ♦; 3+ ♥; 2-11 8421 HCP in ♦; 9-10 total points So likely it needs some change toward cuebids.
  18. This sequence would be improved a bit in the next update. 1minor - 1Major 2Major - ? GIB would be using suits below 3Major as "game try" invite+ and respectively the responses ( some ) would be adjusted to this. The change may not covering plenty along the way as used gadgets, but it will be natural forcing with unlimited strength. Currently the continuation after 2Major limit raise is also limited to 10-12TP and not allowing Responder to go higher well described. So in the particular hand, North would bid 2♠ - Game try suit -- 4+ ♥; 3+ ♠; 10+ HCP; 11+ total points; forcing to 3♥ (after 1♣ opening ) and as in case 3♦ with such fit - Game try suit -- 3+ ♦; 4+ ♥; 10+ HCP; 11+ total points; forcing to 3♥ At least some beginning.
  19. Here the points which GIB promise are not TP but HCP, so no extra points added. 4♦ should promise 6+♦ as GIB already promised 5+♦ with 3♥. 4NT after 3NT is 12-13HCP, 6NT as displayed for GIB is 13-17HCP, so it's about to pick between 4♦,4NT,6NT. Probably Pass too, but 3NT is not sign-off, just you're explaining your hand. Denying 4th majors ( the explanation needs to be corrected though for 3NT ) is the only info 3NT should provide. The lack of two aces seems like issue for this sequence although GIB had 14HCP which makes 32+HCP for sure for the pair.
  20. Thanks for reporting. It's global bug (for basic/advanced). It will be fixed to avoid pass for sure in the next update.
  21. It's a bug. Looks like bad rule explanation triggered. Supposedly should mean 6+ ♥; 3- ♠; 8-12 total points As 1NT allows 15-18 in overcall, 1NT here should be 19-20. Anyway it will be investigated why not the proper one rule used here.
  22. Thanks. Explanation fixed. According to rules it will promise 7+. 2♥ is 6+ and 5-8HCP, but as matching the shape for 3 it bidded. 3♥ - -- 7+ ♥; 8- HCP
  23. As the first double by you is take out, not likely an option for you to have penalizing length at just 3♠ level. Second double just comes as strengthening partner's holdings from 8+ to the GF's values as 13+. It might help if they bid 4♠ and you would like to know how strong is the responsive double. So as hand has no other ideas then 4♥ as you don't have aside minor and slam ideas with Kx in spades 4♥ doesn't look that bad.
  24. No, but it requires hand with shortness. 7222 is still without singletons, despite tremendous trumps.
  25. At first glance looks like 1♣ opener may not be interested in something more than ♥'s, so Double 3♠ looks more safer instead of push partner at 5th level with 3334 shape. ( Negative double -- 4+ ♥; 10+ total points ). And it will left room to bid our diamonds showing these suits and let partner pick the suitable contract. However, the pass once/twice looks worried and it will be addressed for fix.
