At matchpoints, favourable vul. LHO passes and partner opens 2♠ just normal weak two. RHO passes and you have 987xx/Q9xxx/x/Ax Does everyone bid 4♠ with this?
Thanks for your replies. I was in the double camp, because of the poor quality heart suit and the great spades. KQ of clubs was ok for me because even if partner bids clubs he will usually have 5 or more and KQ tight will play ok in that strain. At the table I doubled, which worked out badly as LHO redoubled and partner bid 2♣ with xx/Qx/xxx/Txxxxx. clubs were 4-1 so we were doubled and lost 500.
[hv=d=e&v=b&s=skqjthktxxxdxxckq]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] At matchpoint scoring, with all vul RHO opens 1♦. Do you overcall in hearts, make a takeout double, or try something else?
Just wondering what people would do... RHO opens 1♦ Precision, you hold Axx/x/A98xx/AQJT. Opponents Vul, MP scoring Do you bid? If so what? If you pass it goes 1♥ on your left then RHO bids 1NT (11-13 Bal)
I play a 14+ club and use 1D as a semi-positive (any 7-10) hand and 1H as the negative (0-6). 1S upwards are GF and show various stuff. I originally thought we would be vulnerable to preemption by the 4th hand but it has been fine, just got to know what your doubles are.
Sorry meant to say (this was the whole point and I forgot to put it in the OP) - east shows out on first round of spades. Maybe doesnt matter but now you may have problems if clubs dont break kindly
[hv=v=n&n=saqj5h32dcaqj9732&s=sk7643hak75dat84c]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] This hand came up in a local club night recently. Some people are in 6S some are in 7. What do you think the best line is in 6S and what do you think the best line is in 7S? Opps were silent throughout the auction. Lead: ♥8
