  1. Where do I get in touch with someone to discuss some problems with GIB programming?
  2. It's tasteless and inappropriate to such an obvious extreme that no one would even think of passing a rule against it. Why not "VOTE FOR JOE BLOW" or "DRINK COCA COLA" etc etc. ANY sign or personal statement-even "support world peace" just doesn't fit into this kind of event...I'm not proud I'm a bridge player,a US citizen, or an American if this is appropriate behavior for MY representative-- no matter WHAT the sign said. Their views belong ONLY to them---PERIOD
  3. No one seems to mention it but is this auction possible unless partner has a mountain? Did the S get taken out of the deck? Every opponents I ever play against would be competing. We've given them every opportunity. I'd have taken my shot at 2C opener and then it's at least possible to sign off in 4C. Vul at IMPs I think we need to stretch to any possible game... so 3C seems to have bad risk reward if it can be passed. Would 2D be NMF saying nothing about D? I dislike preempting pard -she'll be real unhappy if 4H makes and neither 3N nor 5C has a prayer. Does someone have a simulator that could input this hand -- no opponent bidding and p having 4+H and 6 pts?
  4. I want to strongly recommend the ACBL Editor, Brent Manley's, very simple and to the point book called "Bridge Everything" I've told partners who seem as anxious to be "on the same page" to use it as a their entire system at first. You can adopt it in bits and pieces and agree along the way. They've been having high stakes tournaments between a team of stars who use every convention they want against a team that is not even allowed to play stayman or transfers -the simple bidders do surprisingly well. If you play the cards well and especially defend well you'll do well at any level-I love playing again convention addicts. For the most part they WAY overuse them. KISS and remember that "even a bad agreement is better than none"
  5. I'm no expert but what if there is no "then"??- both you and partner have the expected garbagy misfit- and the opps don't want to make things worse either... that's what happens when I pass with this kind of hand B)
  6. 1) Partner could have as little as Kxx(x) and a stiff D to make 6S possible! 2) The opps figure to be able to make LOTS of hearts. 3) My pard won't like it but I try 4S!! I'll rescue myself in D if necessary. It rates to win a lot and lose very little. If partner can't take a joke I just bid 2C and rebid D if P bids Hs I hope partner will visualize something like this hand. What would you do with AQxxxx - QJTxxxx - Is this a good understanding?
  7. Your deck has clowns on both sides :) not only are the colors crazy there are two C7s!! I feel like I would cash A D first. If RHO has the Q and it's coming down it, looks like either playwill work. If you pitch, E may ruff and exit a D , you may lose a second H if W started with JXX D. cashing the AD first prevents this. Anyhow I'd ruff the C9 with the 8 or 10....probably wrong but 3NT needs a lot of luck to make with the almost certain S lead. 5D isn't a terrible place to be at IMPs
  8. I share the allegy to -160 but -500 I am more allergic to--If we bid, three things can happen and at least two of them are bad:) right now they may well be playing in OUR best strain
  9. If one follows BBO instructions to "find me a game", one is thrust directly into the middle of someone else's game! This seems very rude to me. What should one do etiquette-wise to: 1)Find out if they need/want you after you say hi 2)Leave without BBO giving you a black mark or because you aren't at all compatible 3)Same but after only a few hands. I just say "last 4 me-bye all" and click "back" after that hand ? Is there a place that explains the etiquette and politeness issues specific to online bridge? -----thanks Gif
