To elaborate further on 2[♣ we play that it is not gf. on that 2 ♦means minimum or no feature and on that the next bid,2 ♥ here shows the invitational hand. if its your style practically never too support with a 3 crd major as opener on a major response this can be worthwile on this hand since it would allow you to stop in 2 ♥ opposite a minimum opener with a doubleton ♥

I would try 6♠. I am giving up on seven due to the problem in [HE if it was only 5 ♠ the problem is too hard for me . it can be 7 ♣ easily if p has a 5 crd ♣ and the black aces. i guess you at the table also bid 6 ♠

Very happy to wish you happy birthday Roland! Keep up the fantastic work.

well bidding 4♦ risks that partner starts thinking. If he will think what i want him to think all is well but i am not sure about that. maybe he red somewhere that i am asking for a singleton major brrrrr and btw i dont mind a diamond lead.

Quick Bridge Ideas?
olliebol replied to kenrexford's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Start with minibridge is a good idea. Introduce bidding on second night or so, but only in a strictly natural sense. Keep the lesson time limited to 15 minutes and play the rest of the evening. In schedule: first night minibridge Second night basic bidding. (explain it like an auction) Third night game bonuses and slams. Fourth night some basic bidding agreements. Play for money the rest of the week :) good luck! -
On second a ♦ looks completely normal, congrats too all who play this down with any other lead.
-
First one goes between ♣ace and a small one to get the appropriate red suit through the opening bidder. But there is not enough in the bidding to sway me from the club ace, my def is reasonable enough. i guess if you took away the q of♥here a small club would be a reasonable shot for a ♦through.
-
Well my small diamond lead will make partners ♠ queen also wastepaper. ♦ holds first trick and dec wonders if someone would underlead having the queen of ♠.I would get that one right at the table.
-
maybe nonsense but south could redouble for free with a d void so d ace
-
if you gave the heart two to the clubs everybody would lead a heart. developing the slam setting trick. now does that extra heart calls for drastic measures? i dont know of course but normal play is a heart. but having said that that east hand has it all saving the aces so can the dec have a single d and we give away the contract by letting them score the first d trick as against dec having a doubleton d an misguessing on the lead? with all other factors uknown i start with a small d for jack pot.

this boils down to : in a forcing situation (pass on 2 !d) is partners double penalty, if yes it seems at the table worthwile to try, you did any way. practically speaking see other comments. so what now? well west has bid 3 !d with no points only distribution but he couldnt run from 1 nt doubled directly. what the hell does he have? looks like he s short in a major , afraid of us finding it. maybe 3244 and thinking we have game for sure why else offering a penalty? somehow hard to believe. After all this masterminding i still dont know how on earth can you offer a penalty against game if yr partner overcalls 1nt you gotta have something special. game is no way a sure thing for opps. i will play them for being idiots in a sense and double.
-
all those non forcing bids here east is 100 percent waiting to whack 2 sp otherwise i make no sense from bidding so 3 hearts

I dont think anyone has mentioned it already and it shd be: the good the bad and the ugly, simply the most fun western ever made to watch. Also worth mentioning are betty blue (a french film), le professionel (also french, with Belmondo)and c est arrive pres the chez vous which is a mockumentary about a filmcrew following a freelance assasin.Just as fun as it sounds. All older films so your rental shop will probably give you no for an answer.Try anyway!

if youre fixed stay fixed pass

olliebol replied to olliebol's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
So to be complete here is partners hand:[hv=s=skhaqj532d103caj94]133|100|[/hv] what he or she wil bid on three clubs is probably three hearts and after that i dunno. tx for all the answers. -
I know this is slightly of topic,(recent films) but speaking of the coen brothers oevre i enjoyed their first film the most. For those who havent seen it go rent Blood simple. Cheers!
-
l.h.o. has bid 5 cl vulnerable, im following my gut here diamond to dummy and ten of hearts. not yet down if loses but down probably if lefty can ruff the diamond cross.

1♠ 2♥ D p 3♠ p 4♣ P 4♦ P 4♠ P 4NT P 5♣ P P whereby 4♣l is real or cue for clubs 4♠ confirms cue 5♣1or 4 but more realistically east bids 4♠ after 3♠ :(
