  1. the star designation qualifications changed over the years but i believe most of them have represented their country in a major tournament.
  2. Having real connection issues only since the update to 3.91 on a new iPad. The connection will be lost every couple cards using a wireless 100/mb home notwork connection. Usually playing anonymously with the robots. I tested the connection to bridge base from another iPad running update 3.87 and have no connection issues at all from the same exact location in my home. Any ideas, is it possible it is a bridge base problem or since it is a connection issue it is related to my network configuration?
  3. I have been trying to play Precision in a partnership for a long time and due to time in learning the system and commitment it just hasn't worked. I would be committed to learning with you on BBO in partnership bidding or just pickup table if you had a simplified Precision system you enjoyed.
  4. how high will the board numbers go? will it even display 4 digits?
  5. "A few years ago I asked a really good D22 player how one got on good teams, and the simple answer is "just win" and people will ask you" this has been my experience when just looking for knockout teams or a pair for swiss.
  6. i would like to play and dont have a partner either. I am on West Coast time if that makes any difference.
  7. i would double the first time around.
  8. You self alert when you make a bid. You type in the box above the bids and then click the bid you want. Only the opponents can see it. As for conventions. Most people list the common ones or ones they like to play in their profile. You should do the same. Then with a quick look at pards profile and you can quickly agree a system, carding and maybe which conventions of theirs you want to play. If their profile is blank you can ask something like sayc? or what system? and usually people will say something or agree to play your profile.
  9. ♦Q98 dummy ♦104 Left hand opponent leads little diamond, what is the percentage play here in 3nt with no outside losers?
  10. Do you play a few hands with the beginners or just automatically assume that their skill level means they are terrible and leave. If it is the latter that seems like judging a book by its cover. I know quite a few junior players who are considered expert that put their skill level as novice just to avoid getting annoyed by people they don't want to play with. It seems absurd to assume that someone that is a novice skill level in their profile without playing a few hands with them. This annoys me in f2f bridge too because at the partnership desk the volunteers just ask for a number. This number or skill level is not an absolute of how good a bridge player is.
  11. Congrats to the Netherlands. They played excellent bridge throughout. Valiant effort USA2 and thanks Justin for taking the time to update the forums and your blog along the way. It gave great insight to the mindset on certain hands as well as scores, etc. for the people that could not be awake in the middle of the night. I am sure there will be many many more opportunities for a world championship in the future. 2nd is nothing to hang your head over.
  12. i wish i could but all the people i play with have full time jobs :(
  13. i usually lurk here quite a bit but as of late i have found bridgewinners to be far better in terms of quality posts and discussion.
